Geez; when were they going to be telling us about this?

Ah well; at least there is more than one line I can use to get into town! But why close the WHOLE LINE when just the bit between Burswood and Claisebrook will be worked on?
doggie015
Due to the fact that there is nowhere to stable or service railcars south of Burswood.

Fair enough. I would have thought they would have at least a small rail yard at Armadale but obviously not

The two week closure will allow for work to continue on stadium station
Belmont Park station will be demolished yes works are progressing that fast and there's no nowhere on the Armadale line the PTA can safely stow railcars...wouldn't have that problem if the Thornlie spur linked with the Mandurah line could stow A series in Mandurah or construct a new railcar depot in CanningVale and use a mix of A & B series and run trains between Cannington & Armadale & Cannington & Cockburn Central if that makes sense,  we have one of the worlds advanced public transport systems, I'm 100% certain I saw B set 095 out yesterday on the Joondalup line, B set 096 has been transferred to Nowergup Aurizon DAZ 1901 collected the set from Midland workshops late Friday evening, two down twenty more to go a few noticeable differences between a gen 1 & a gen 2 B series
The black bars around the windows are smaller each carriage has perimeter seating I'll update when I know more.

Looks like the total shutdown might be partially a false alarm:

Train services on the Armadale and Thornlie lines will also be cancelled nightly from Monday 2 until Thursday 5 December 2013 in order to perform maintenance on the line.

(From http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/ServiceUpdates/ServiceDisruptions/tabid/128/newsid563/3740/Default.aspx)

The article also covers 8th to 12th December, but there's currently no mention of Armadale line disruptions at that time.

Edit: aaand, it's been taken off the trackwork calendar, replaced by the above nightly disruption.

A set 015 is ready to return to revenue service after its minor incident with 1593, it's currently coupled with A set 019 at Claisebrook depot I think they're being detailed, should see them out Monday peak.

Spotted B series trains going to the Showgrounds for some concert that was going on. Since I live in Rockingham and don't go out much, it wasn't surprising, but it was weird seeing them there. Nonetheless, did get one good shot of one speeding past City West.

GREAT NEWS!!
B set 095 was out on her maiden run today, seven news Perth had a short segment on the new 3car set during their 6PM bulletin and I myself was lucky enough to catch the set at Esplanade station on a Clarkson bound service

Blake Johnson covered the segment and he even showed us inside the drivers cab!

It looks almost like the other B series sets. The updated cosmetics don't look too bad either. Will have to wait. On Sunday, I'm going out gunzelling, so I might be lucky.

97 is expected to make its way through Sydney either next month or in February.
  thewaratahtrain Chief Train Controller

Sounds great buddy, yea B set 097 will arrive mid to late January.

I've got 2 questions:

1. Are the B series set numbers continued from the last A series set (E.g. 48 is the last A set, is 49 the first B set?)

2. There are 22 sets that are to be delivered, two of which are in Perth (95 in service, 96 being commissioned), will the B sets past 100 have car numbers like -- 4100-6100-5100-- so forth?
  thewaratahtrain Chief Train Controller

Yes they will, B sets 049-117
4049-6049-5049 to 4117- 6117-5117. The C series will continue on from that numbering, although I think a Sydney style numbering system would be better eg A sets A1 to A48 and B1 to B68.

I reckon it could work. Though, wouldn't it need a full re-write of the timetable for each allocated set (E.g. 'B set 50' would have to be re-written as 'B2' and so forth).
  thewaratahtrain Chief Train Controller

I don't like the current numbering system and most enthusiast refer to the railcar as for example A set 10 or B set 70.

Looks like it's come early.

97 was last recorded passing through Hornsby, in the Northern suburbs of Sydney, around half an hour ago en route to Perth.

It's currently sitting in a shed at Port Augusta, the 3car set will be attached to the back of 6WP2 and will arrive early Wednesday morning unless 6WP2 has left in the last couple of hours...
