Based on recent events, I'd guess Moss Vale will do all of the Forbes work except for the stripping and back-loading. Don't know if 3 shifts a week would justify another intake.

Their web site doesn't say how many services in/out Forbes for grain trains and intermodal .
"As well as handling containers our Forbes depot is also central to the logistics solution for many grain companies with purpose built silos on site"

"The rail siding is serviced by regular scheduled trains to and from Port Botany"

Do you know how many trains service the depot already? Is it QUBE atm?

AFAIK grain is delivered by road, stored, cleaned, blended, etc then containerized and loaded on to 3 trains per week for delivery to port. Qube is still doing the job.

MIA, his email is still replying with "out of office", even the HR manager the email forwards you to is not answering emails. I have a feeling the experiment is over.

Hey Seb

I didn't mean there has been a change to the structure of PN's HR department, just to the initiative of having a HR person actively  canvassing future employee/candidates through forums, social media, or professional networking sites.

Hello All

Firstly my apologies for not being online the past 2+ months, I unfortunately injured myself and was unable to use a computer for 5 weeks. I now have limited use of a computer 3 days a week.

I have a lot of messages and emails to go through so please do bear with me while I get to everything.

Appreciate your understanding, and again I apologise I have not been around to talk with.

Question for Stuart@Asciano

Quiet times.....it seems likely next year for new employment opportunities. Any new opportunities opening up in NSW in 2014?

Cheers

Edit: Thanks for the update Stuart.

Hello all

I would like to let you know that I will be on holidays from this Wednesday through until January 6th 2014, if you have any questions in my absence please send me a private message and I will reply to you upon my return.

May I also take this opportunity to wish you s very safe and merry christmas / new year period. I look forward to continuing contributing to your community in 2014 and helping you gain employment with Asciano

I know that 2014 will be a year in which Asciano continues to focus on the hiring of trainee locomotive drivers, with QLD being a one area I know we will be most active in to begin with. Victoria and South Australia will continue to be a little quiet, and NSW should remain as per usual with intakes most quarters.

I have one question Stuart

after applying for numerous positions at Asciano I have never progressed past the submit application stage

does education levels come into play when filtering out applicants as i never completed year 10 in high school

I do however have over 30 years experience working in heavy industry

Stuart,
What are the chances of a qualified DA or Driver transferring to NSW from interstate while still under  PN training bond agreement. May need to explore this due to family health issues.

"No depot I am aware of in PN has TO's that drive locomotives yet."

Port Waratah's TO's are put through to drive in the yard limits  and DOO limits of PTW and Kooragang.

I think best bet is to work out where you want to go, find out who the depot manager is and ring them up. Talk to your own boss first though, it might help grease the wheels a bit.

Yeah I will definitely see at least my Super first to give him a heads up before I go making any calls if that is what it comes to as he has been easy to deal with deserves to know and would understand. Hopefully won't need to just getting an idea just in case.

Another feather in the cap, just recently I had a 2 hour shunting lesson with a very generous PN driver at the NSWRTM, looking forward to learning more on the way to that elusive Driver job!

Hi Dood,

It will depend on the role you are applying for, however generally speaking - there are no education requirements for Trainee locomotive driving roles.

Your background that you have described to me in the heavy industry would seem to fit with what we look for - if you would like to explore in more information what you have applied for in the past, please feel free to PM me.

Stuart
