Various grain is worked out of Dubbo from the North and the West and the South i believe. From the West there was Mining and also Cotton?

Are Cobar trains worked from Dubbo?
  Toddy Train Controller

Freightliner containers to Namoi cotton at warren
Qube container train to Auscott cotton between warren and Nevertire
Qube container train to Agrigrain at Narromine
2 copper trains to Cobar, one run by Qube and one by pacnat
There is also a Newcastle to Broken Hill ore train that runs via Dubbo, Narromine and Parkes
Grain trains are also regular especially this time of year. Vast majority are run by pacnat from parkes and they head both along the Cobar line to trangie, nyngan etc and also up the coonamble line. Grain is both domestic for the manildra flour mill and also being taken to the parkes sub terminal for export.
Have also noticed recently qube have been operating a containerised grain along the Cobar line for Louis Dreyfus (Mountain industries). This isn't scheduled though so it is rather sporadic.

The container trains run 3 days a week each I'm pretty sure from observations from Narromine. Hopefully I haven't missed too much and that this is helpful. Cheers

There is (or was) a proposal to reopen part of the Dubbo to Molong line (from Dubbo to Toongai) for Alkane Resources zirconia mine.

According to Alkane, the mine at Dubbo is favouring to use road to Dubbo. It only costs them up front $12m to upgrade the road back to Dubbo Zoo for B double traffic as opposed to a $30m upgrade of the rail line, plus infrastructure plus ongoing maintenance, as they would be the sole user of the line. However they state that they will continue to consider the rail for future use if it becomes viable.

Would the containers be transhipped to rail at Dubbo? I assume they're the same half-height ore boxes used on the existing traffic?

Railway Digest reports that the crossing loop at Trangie has been lengthened, probably from about 400m, to about 1300m.

It is not known why "standard" lengths of 1500m or 1800m have not been adopted.

Perhaps the length is constrained by the level crossing in the Nyngan direction which gives access to the saleyards and the waste depot.

Probably because going any larger would be a waste of money. There's never likely to be a train over 1000m.

Has the traffic started as yet and if so how many containers are being moved to Dubbo by road and transhipped?

The mine referred to is still going through the state planning review process.  Its construction has not commenced.

So "No" and "None".
