    Well this weekend is the Corio show so lets hope that something pops up there.
    Either way they will show up sooner or later.

    Just wondering if anyone has been called by Austrains to confirm payment as mentioned in their 5th Jan news item? Haven't received anything yet but just wanted to check with the community before following up.

    A few reports on facebook confirm mailout of 'confirm your details' letters recently received. Each is personalised with that customers order details so it'll take time for all to be done, no need for panic stations yet. Panic when you read the letter, no sound models in the shipment, and not likely to be available in the second run either. Also some 81's & BL's delayed until second run.

    If you can see the following pic then someone needs to learn how to set their facebook privacy settings correctly!

    Cheers for the link and yes I can see the picture.
    Nice we have something to look at now.

    Initial thoughts - looks pretty nice. This is not a colour scheme I am thinking but you get the general idea.
    Front end is captured well - looks like a G!
    The cab windows have been improved and the spacing from earlier samples.

    Can't wait for the 81's and BL's.

    Did the numbers remain the smae or change? On the Austrians website, numbers were due to change for technical reasons. Looking forward to a BL and a G (possibly a second as well) running about the layout!

    Something funny with the area above the windows. Looks like the number boards are too low and then has excessive blank area above them.

    Did the numbers remain the smae or change? On the Austrians website, numbers were due to change for technical reasons. Looking forward to a BL and a G (possibly a second as well) running about the layout!

    "The above numbers are subject to change for technical reasons" means "may change" not "will change". The order confirm letter (mailout underway now) does not indicate any numbers were cancelled, some liveries (from the 81's & BL's) are delayed but none cancelled at this stage.

    Okay, I got the wording wrong but who cares. I have not got my confirmation letter as yet so I have not had the chance, hence I asked here. Anyway, sure look nice.

    and they had a display case this time, with samples of the 81, Bl G and the PL cars........ and there was a "S" wagon there too.

    But these ones are at $295.00 aren't they. I know this has been discussed, but for someone like me, I don't have a lot of money, although I have been saving. Look great and well worth the wait I think, since I placed my order 3 years ago. Not as bad as those who did 8 years ago though.

    Also, ahead of what you were saying Poath, I did notice 539 isn't on the page but a photo provided by Dthead proves that it is a different number than announced.

    Bob Cooke, who now owns  Bobs Hobbies, had a Brass 81 painted in Tuscan, and a unknown to me modeller did a similar thing with a G. Both annoyed the serious modellers of the day.

    These days it proves a point not all colours  have to prototypical,  Americans have done it for years.

    Me think it is a  great idea. PSM did a brass R as a vline for themselves, andmany would have loved one. Lots of other examples as well.

    ME a Tuscan 81 would be nice Smile

    Thanks for your response - makes sense, I was just wondering if the market was there for it! I can understand a modeller making a project out of converting an existing locomotive to a "what if" colour scheme or operator, I just didn't realise there was enough of a demand to churn out RTR models in such colour schemes. Hey, if it generates interest, why not? As for it ruffling the feathers of the community, then I'm right behind it! If I pay $300 odd for a model, why shouldn't it look the way I want it, not the way everyone else does?

    I have sent in an order for a 81/G class all ive got back is an automated response that thanks me and Austrains will be in contact with ne shortly ? anyone else in this situation . But funnily enough it is addressed to me by my name but its automated!

    Maybe not owned by PN any more, but it did wear the PN livery for a while before being sold to SCT.

    I notice the National Rail scheme has been deleted from the order form , I think it has been a slow ordered loco and will be excluded from their range . I cannot see any other reason to remove it from the 81 and BL order forms.Sad.  my guess hope im wrong

    Anzac - if you look at the post by Dazz further up the page you'll see a link to letter sent by Austrains to customers.

    Amongst other things it advises that several schemes (including NR for 81s and BLs) have been delayed until a production run later in the year. So you should still get them in NR! Very Happy
