Wanna share our works with all of your on Railpage.com.au as we're all tax payers and you deserve to the current works we're doing to improve the rail network.

Goal: Extend Riddells Creek, Macedon & Kangaroo Flat Stations by 36m+ to allow for an 8 carriage train.
Source: VLine

Expected completion of works: 14th January 2014
Deadline: 19th January 2014 (Occupation finishes)

Today we commenced works at Riddells Creek Railway Station and begun doing a set out aswell as digging out the new foundations for the concrete panels.
I only have 2 photos as today was really hectic for myself and the crew as we got delayed in our start time this morning.
Foundations Spec: 1200mm Wide, approx 600mm below bottom of concrete/timber sleeper
Ground Condition: WET Silty Natural Clay.. Probably the worst i've ever had to dig but on the plus side, easy digging!

Thanks for that Grosso. Do you have any information regarding any works at Gisborne? I remember seeing the tender notice in one of the papers a while ago and Gisborne was listed, and maybe another station that I cannot seem to recall at the moment.
  mickamious Junior Train Controller

Yes, we've been awarded Gisbourne aswell as Broadford and will be commencing them in the new year around Easter time.
Excavating at the moment in Macedon will have an update tonight!

For those of you not familiar with the layout at Gisbourne. The extensiuon is being tackled from the UP end as the level crossing would prevent any platform extension from the down end.

Bluestone mate. Can grab a photo sometime for you as I'm working along the line.
Macedon station excavation done
Kangaroo flat tomorrow if nothing changes
Steel done at Riddells Creek with concrete pour to happen tomorrow!

Some photos for you gents as promised, sorry for the delay.

30th December, Monday
Works included finishing up minor excavation at Macedon from the 29th as there was a Victrack Cable running under one of the footings and required and inspection before we could dig through that particular area.
Footings we're poured at Riddells Creek Railway Station whilst the steel was being put in place at Macedon Railway Station.

31st December, Tuesday

We commenced Kangaroo Flat Station excavation today and this is probably the hardest station out of them due to the embankments making it more tedious. Footings we're poured at Macedon Station but have no photos of this as i was basically in Bendigo.

Don't mind showing our program and schedule of works because we know the competition can't do what we can do aswell as the way we work is efficient. Can't really go into detail cause that's giving it away lol..
But appreciate your comment sir.

While we are in this area, can you tell me the source and type of rock used in those magnificent stone arch viaducts such as the one crossing the creek on the Gisborne side of Riddell's Creek? It seems to be the same stone as used in the old disused road bridge on the Melbourne side of Sunbury.

Some of the Bluestone was excavated in a quarry adjacent to the line and Riddells Creek (the creek running through town)

Thanks for the updates on construction, Grosso. Much appreciated! Smile

No worries Michael.
Sorry to say guys tonight I have to delete this thread. I've spoken to Bevan, the admin so he's aware of the reasons why.
I do apologize but I thought it'd be good to share the construction works with you all to show you all how things progress.

It is a shame this might have to go. There is nothing on this thread which anyone cannot obtain with a few photos on public land. Yes public land. Shame it might have to go.

There are threads on this site covering the Mitcham level crossing works. Chris Gordon from Vicsig (https://twitter.com/Condog412) posts a load of photos from his works around the network (yes around the network and works he is working on) on twitter and facebook (thou I dont use facebook much) so why would Vline (I am assuming some person in Vline has an issue) have an issue?

These are positive works for the network. It is hardly a secret and news worthy.

Perhaps Vline does not want the public to know about the investments they are making?

This is Kangaroo Flat platform 2.

I wonder when they'll finish it.
The platform extensions at Macedon and Riddells Creek are similar, but I only have video of them from an express train.
There's plenty of L-shaped pieces of concrete immediately up from Gisborne platform 1, maybe those platforms will get extended too.

Not too many trains use platform 2 at KF - let along long ones, but its good to see investment in capacity expansion - particularly considering the neglect this station copped for decades.

They have been working on finishing all 3 platforms each day.

As for Gisborne, that is the next to be done but they have to move the signals first

I second that, however they probably should have included tactile paving for blind people.

They're probably waiting for the asphalt to cure before they go in which should take a few weeks, I was surprised they added that yellow line since it"ll have to go when the tactiles are installed.

I forgot to mention that Riddells Creek has red posts to go with its red picket fence.

I suppose the yellow line is a temporary safety feature?

Yesterday I noticed there were plenty of L-shaped concrete panels at East Kilmore.
I was half expecting to see some at Broadford, but I didn't spot any.
If they extend some platforms on the Seymour line how long should they be?
  Gauntlet Chief Commissioner

Location:
I caught two express train past Riddells Creek and Macedon yesterday and noticed that
the fences, light posts and tactiles have been completed, but there are no station signs and there's a single piece of temporary fence on each platform which is too short to stop peple using the new section of platform.
