I wonder what the asking prices are.  It would be good to see one or two of them as preserved locomotives out at the wheatbelt heritage centre, especially an NJ and a D or DA.  However, I suspect that most, if not all, of them, will be heading off to Chile or Southern Africa sooner or later.

why should we preserve an nj here? they have no history or heritage value over here at all. as for the other locos you mentioned yeah either the d or da should be preserved but I also think an "L" class should be preserved at some stage somewhere.

In Queensland, Aurizon has a caveat on sales that prevents locos being used locally for two years...I'd assume the WA sale will be the same.

Will this also apply if the units are on-sold to further buyers down the track? For instance, if one buyer purchases a unit now, and then sells in one year, is this condition legally binding to the new purchaser in any way? Having worked in trucking for some time, I cannot see how you could legally sell a prime mover, but not allow it to be used on public roads in WA, so why should the same be possible on the rail system?

In regards to your enquiry regarding the purchase of Aurizon locomotives, Aurizon is currently running a tender process for the sale of 25 locomotives in Western Australia, the tender process has been issued to registered buyers and closes on the 18^th December 2013 and in line with the organisations direction for rollingstock disposal.



Pricing details in relation to the locomotives is not available.

P 2517 was seen heading south through Burekup to Picton with an alumina train this afternoon.

I dont ever remember seeing a P class work down here, only during special circumstances to drop off a wagon or refuel, or otherwise, and havent seen that in quite a few years. So I'm quietly excited about the arrangement.

They used to run through the Junction to Collie, but never south of Brunswick J.
