A 6car A series is operating on the Joondalup line currently doing a shuttle to Cockburn Central, it may go down to Rockingham & Mandurah, sets currently unknownAren't there enough B sets to form a 6 car consist?
Yes all the new third generation B series railcars have perimeter (subway style) seating basically to cram more commuters in like sardines instead of ordering the correct amount of B series required for the Joondalup & Mandurah lines the 22 that are currently being delivered is still not enough, the older first and second generation B sets will be receive the same treatment, at least an additional 20 3car sets are required for the lines, A sets 032 & 038 have been re-entered revenue service saw 032 haunting the Thornlie line yesterday and took a ride on 038 to Fremantle and back the other day she has a nice shiny new red panto
Thanks.I must say though, when travelling on an A series set, it is a bit funny and creepy at the same time when you're facing each other. When I go on my gunzelling adventures on A series territory, I'm known for standing up. I get very anxious sitting down in those sets in fear that someone is staring at me. :S
The second 3rd-gen B Series (presumably 096) is now in service: http://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au/pages/StatementDetails.aspx?listName=StatementsBarnett&StatId=8089

Yes, Set 96 couple to 95 for a run of 6 cars set in the morning, she ran beautifully though, a few comms issue but computer took care of it (Impress). Beside that no problem at all, good and quiet acceleration.

Yes northmetro these are the new third generation B series trains can carry up to 600 passengers, two third generation 3car B series trains are in service bringing the amount of B series trains in service equal to the amount of A series in service, the third generation sets have a reduced perimeter seating layout in all 3 carriages, above is a video of B set 095 I recorded and uploaded to Youtube sounding like something else.
I still don't think there's enough third generation sets to really notice a difference only two are in service, TransPerth have been a bit funny with the timetables lately especially with updating them.
You would notice a difference if it's a train you regularly travel on. I don't use it that often but 0803 from Clarkson on a school day is in serious need of 6 cars.
You missed my point -
More rolling stock
Unchanged schedules on all lines
Claim by minister that there is a capacity increase
SO WHICH TRAINS IN THE EXISTING TIMETABLE ARE LONGER?
If none, then the press release is a load of s**t. There are just two more sets sitting in the depot.
Also I honestly doubt the PTA will rewrite the timetable to pencil in one additional 6car set only for it to be changed 11-12 months down the track, if my calculations are correct if the Butler extension opens in December we should have 5 of the third generation B series 80 in service if they enter service every 2 months
