A6 is back at Cardiff today. Expect to see quite a few more Waratahs make the trip back soon, can't say much at the moment though.
Are the coupler issues to do with the "between car" couplers, or the front/rear couplers?
Telegram 050-14GM, issued Monday March 3, made mention of two sets returning to Cardiff, Tuesday March 4.
Just for the record, I noted the following:-
Friday afternoon Peak, 21/2/14: Three (3) A set Rosters running with alternative set types.
Friday afternoon Peak, 28/2/14: Five (5) A set Rosters running with alternative set types.
As reported by Aurora8, under the S Set Scrapping thread:-
Monday, 3/3/14: Nine (9) A set Rosters running with alternative set types.

THE Hunter’s manufacturing industry took another hit yesterday, after rail manufacturer Downer EDI said it was cutting almost 200 workers from its operations in Cardiff.About 80 full-time employees and 110 contract staff will leave the company because of the completion of its contract to build a 78 eight-carriage Waratah train fleet for the NSW government.
Downer spokesman Michael Sharp confirmed the news yesterday, saying the last of the trains was due to be delivered in May.
To finish the week, Waratah Sets had a better score, with only three (3) Rosters replaced with alternate set types.
Friday afternoon Peak, 14/3/14:-
Sector 2: One (1) A set Roster (number 70) running with 8K set consist.
Sector 3: Two (2) A set Rosters (numbers 152 & 161) running as 8T and 8K set consist respectively.
Almost back to normal running.

Bit of a rare sight: M11 in the sheds at Cardiff alongside the B-set of A78:

Why do u say A78 is a B set?
We test them as 4-car sets first, so we refer to them as, for example, set 78A and 78B. This is done with a box attached to the intercar connector on the TC to provide some indication of trainline signals as well as provide the pilot loop for things like the brake system.
After most of the sub systems have been commissioned, the 4-car sets are coupled up to form the final 8 car set before a bit of high voltage testing, then going out to road 1 for delivery preparation.
As from Monday, March 17, three Sector 3 Rosters have been allocated new Roster numbers, for the purpose of grouping all Rosters operated by A sets in one sequence or series.
A set Roster 130 has been changed to Roster number 182.
8K set Roster 138 has been changed to Roster number 183.
8K set Roster 141 has been changed to Roster number 184.
Rosters 183 and 184 were to have become A set Rosters from March 17, however, this has been deferred for at least one week.

Could not be bothered reading this whole thread with all the posts. Word on the rails is all the Waratah cuplinks are to be replaced with Aussie BHP steel unit as the Chinese ones are showing cracks and fatigue.
