Rather than awaken the long dormant and as times have moved on I'll start over. The link posted in that thread leading to a former City Rail web page which used to show some helpful detail no longer works as City Rail is no more. The new version doesn't provide what I'm after.
Railpage itself has something of a work in progress in the rolling stock library which does not yet offer anything for multiple units other than the Victorian VL sets.
I have tracked down some detail of the present situation regarding S-sets and of the latest A-set news thanks to threads here and Wikipedia pages. But is there one place where one might find the current formations of NSW electric stock along with their target plates and depot allocations?
I realise most of the newer types are more or less in numerical order. But for various reasons not all are. It is those oddities which catch the unwary. Older types are now very mixed and are in anything but numerical order. While it is almost a reliable method to assume that 6101 is mated with 5101, 5102 and 6102 that doesn't work for anything older than the Tangaras and there are exceptions in all fleets. And I can find nowhere which will also show me the target for each set.
After my first weekend in Sydney for many years I have as many unresolved queries as ever. I wasn't aware until I read through the Waratah thread for example that an entire set never entered service and was consigned to baked-bean cans.
Over to you, good people of NSW.
