Track & platform work is about to happen at Kilmore East. Here's what I've heard so far from the staff.
As of this Saturday, April 6th, work is commencing to shave roughly 400mm off the Melbourne Bound (Up?) platform.
Apparently the pair of north-south tracks converge slightly too much between the platforms and has become a safety issue in that trains mirrors have recently been colliding if the trains on each side arrive at the same time.
So the Melbourne bound side track is to be shifted about 40cm east, with the appropriate amount taken from the platform edge. From the look of whats also been dropped nearby and cut marks in the platform, they will also be using the opportunity to improve drainage on that side as well.
Apparently that platform will also be getting a weather/bus-type shelter to go with the waiting room.
Melbourne bound Broadford people will get buses that stop at Kilmore East, Heathcote Junction and Wallan according ot the junk mail.
Melbourne bound Kilmore East people will get buses to Wallan. All with the usual recommendation of arriving at least 15 mins earlier than normal.
Seymour bound trains are unaffected.
Interestingly, no mention of southbound Wandong people, arriving or departing. Seems like no-one goes there and no-one leaves. Sounds like a Twilight Zone episode.
--edit-- The website mentions the buses stopping at Wandong, only the Vline paper flyer doesn't --end eidt--
I'll get what pics I can and post them here as it goes along.
