I would like to ask if anyone would like to test a fictional Belgrave-Ferntree Gully Broad gauge electric rail line. it has a fair few trees where they are not on the real line and it has only two tiles and has Belgrave next to Ferntree Gully but it is a good run it also has as real as possible yard layouts.

Yeah I'll give it a test for you, as long as it is UTC compatible. PM me if you would like me to help you.

I think the original without trees is UTC built or if you want I can make one with only track and buildings in UTC.

Doesnt really matter if its with or without trees, Best put as much into it as possible, thus preventing changes occuring in between beta tests

Hi,
Yeah I'll give it a go, but it also must be able to
run on UTC. It will be my first test run on a train sim
but if you tell me what to do it should be OK.
Let me know if I can.
Thanks
Ben

Hi there,
I'm happy to give it a test and I've got TRS2004.
PM me with the details if you like. How big is the layout file?
Cheers,

OK. I am at the moment using no custom files other than maybe the trees but I am most likly to delete that one as it is actualy not vry good so at the momnt it will be a non treed layout. I don't actualy know at th moment but it is about 3 boards.

Generally no matter how large the layout is, it is difficult to create a file larger than 1MB. My Tailem Bend module beta test was made up of 27 base boards and was only 600 odd Kb.

And do you know why it was only 600 kb? If you're familiar with MSTS, go and have a look in the World folder of one of your routes, and you'll see that the file size is, on average, only marginaly larger - and yet the entire route size can take up hundreds of mb. Why do you ask? Because the baseboards in Trainz and the world tiles in MSTS are exactly the same - just vector data, telling us the terrain details, object placement etc...it's really the objects themselves, with the numerous textures that total the route size up.
Go into your World | Dispatcher | Downloads -> folder, and you'll notice that the size of this folder is huge. Mine is a meagre 136mb in size, with only 80 odd downloads in there, and is bound to increase dramatically by the time Vic Thoroughbreds is finnished and beta installed on my box.
Anyway, if you were to combine the size of all the assets used on your layout with the baseboards themselves, you'd soon find out that it's quite in excess of the 600kb you quoted as the filesize of your route

Hi all
I have stopped working on this layout as I am starting a semi prototypical layout. It will have correct yard layouts and the line will not be in an oval shape. For now I need to get some buildings for it. I am also thinking of making a second one that will connect to the PBR line that is available.
