    Because a GOL cab is very second rate compared to a NR or 93. We have a best cab leads policy, unless extreme circumstances warrant a temporary solution as you saw yesterday.

    I do admit as an enthusiast I'm getting mighty sick of seeing an NR/93 lead a PN freight. & GSR services, MP5 yesterday would've been a 1 in 1000 shot, a real Kodak moment.

    Painted in Grey undercoat and looking a lot like an NEW RL!!!

    Is this the infamous RL308???

    Painted in Grey undercoat and looking a lot like an NEW RL!!!

    Is this the infamous RL308???

    Not at the time, might venture back in the morning with the camera.
    I should have said before that the number boards above the cab (and the headlight) were all masked up.

    EL61 was repainted at Bluebird Rail back in june as seen below

    so most likely the loco seen is one of EL61 sisters.

    RL308 remains were scrapped at the beginning of the year.

    The unknown locomotive that was sighted was a EL class at AHSC being overhauled and repainted.

    Got to love gunzel speculation..

    After a second look and taking a couple of photos and comparing them to other EL's
    Yes it is an EL. I must say an excellent job on the body work as it is hard to tell that the body panels are not brand new.

    Well I didn't know the remains had been scrapped.

    As to "gunzel speculation", I asked an honest question, there was NO speculation implied or intended.
    The comment is totally unwarranted slur and was unnecessary.
    Any wonder why a number of members are no longer posting on these pages!

    The EL itself has been sitting infront of workshops like that for over a week now and has been sighted and photographed on other groups. And yes I dont post info here anymore as too many Gunzels speculate.

    Yesterday & today, the only 3 green & yellow GM's left in service for GWA (38, 40, 46) hauled the Gladstone grain train. Yesterday it hauled 32 hoppers, today a whopping 50 (at least 10 were picked up from Crystal Brook). Me & a friend chased this train from CB to Two Wells, sounded awesome! Very Happy

    Also today, GML10-8030 were out & about around Snowtown on ballast duties.

    1WX2 had AN3-NR115-NR114-NR58 today. Interestingly the latter two NR's failed at Ambleside, with the former two locos being sent to rescue the train. Very rare for an AN to lead in SA.

    On PM9 (both last Tuesday & Wednesday), G516 was leading 2 SCT's from Penfield to Tailem Bend which has caught most by surprise. And on 5MP9 (Friday morning), G516 again led 2 SCT's, but with EL58 from Melbourne was included, all up hauling 1,668 metres (69 wagons) for around 4,450 tons. Glad I managed to film this train! Very Happy

    Train no. 2182s (grain train) from Tailem Bend failed at Ambleside today. As a result the loco lash-up was GM37-2214-CLF5-2216-2210-GM42-ALF18, departed Ambleside at 1:47pm.

    Today's Patrick Portlink Balco service was hauled by S311 & a freshly painted EL55. Not sure if EL's have worked this train previously?

    Location: Adelaide.
    Anther Undercoat loco spoted in Islington works monday  EL53 well in to overhaul.

    also outside the workshops  tuesday is VL359.

    PL1 has returned as the Keswick passenger terminal shunt engine 8108 was fiilling in while it was at the Motice power centre Dry Creek for repairs.

    Does anyone know anything about a couple of NRs running light engine heading east this morning? I saw them on the way to work going under the SE Freeway at approximately 8am.

    Location: Adelaide.
    PL 1 after being missing for some time has finally returned to the Adelaide Passenger Terminal allowing 8108 to Return to Islington.

    Their has been  some Boxcars and car carriers stored at the north end of Islington on the ground for some years well finally all cut up and just a few piles of scrap remain.
