They are a closed group. Crying or Very sad Presumably for elites only and kept closed to keep the riff-raff out.

As I'm one one of the riff-raff, could you let us know which engines appear to be on their way to the cutters torch?

they have all been moved it would seem. I dont have the list, but they do include H2-5, and several Y's P's and T's. Cant remember but i think there's 9 or 11 of them

There's a photo and a list of numbers on the Victorian Rakilway Enthusiasts group, which I think is open:

I thought the locos were moved when I went past there in darkness last night.

Shame if they are all scrapped,  if anyone knows further details please post.

707 operations is chasing a replacement load regulator for T 413,  as the one in it is damaged, and was discovered to be the cause of constant ground relays.

If anyone out there knows anyone in PN management etc help in purchasing a second hand one would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, Our efforts in contacting PN have been to date futile.

Thanks - SN 7

I know I live in the dark ages by not having a Facebook account, but if anybody knows which locos have been moved, could they please type the numbers out in a post?

Some might say using Facebook is going back to the dark ages. Seconded.

Please if someone can update all of us.

Anyone know who at PN to contact in regards to Purchasing a Loco out of the group at Nth Geelong?

S301

My best bet would be the 'asset management' division though I'm not sure if you can get the through the Ausciano website contact page or not. There is a number for North Geelong itself too which I have heard might also be useful.

On another note from what I understand it was North Geelongs duty of care to pump the locos as over time they have been leaking their oil while in storage.

Spot on, Dounut.  That is why they were pulled forward.  After speaking to one of my contacts they said these locomotives were stored serviceable, still fueled.  They just needed to be emptied out.  The only way they will be sold is scrapped.
Still no word on scrapping though.

While someone at PN is having a laugh over all the Gunzels panicking over a few engines.

I drove past on Saturday and I noticed a crane, an excavator and some people working around wagons, like they were cutting components off with a hot torch.
Is there more wagon scrapping going on, or is this just maintenance?

More wagon scrapping, former log wagons this time apparently. I'm not sure if there's others being scrapped as well though.
  SN7 Chief Commissioner

Appears several Log wagons scrapped this week, a couple of VHGY grain hoppers were getting the torch yesterday, with a row of them next in line, a lone VLEX and the hoppers VHQF type that used to run on the mini apex in V/Line and Freight Australia days either cut up or about to be.

I wonder how it is worked out what is surplus.  Is it a tax write down or outstanding maintenance cost or any other reason?

It is very much a closed group. You do have to apply for membership, and be approved before anything can be seen.

Not in as much as to keep out the known trouble makers. It's a pretty tight ship they run.

The scrapping is still continuing, at times as late as 11pm.  Also working weekends.
The yard is starting to look bare.

While taking the family down to Barwon Heads yesterday, I thought I would go around the back of Geelong as the traffic was pretty bad. While travelling past the old Incitec Pivot sidings I noticed that the rake of old log wagons that had been stored there for a number of years had gone.

The log wagons are now next to the scrapping area waiting to be scrapped no doubt.  Also there waiting to be scrapped are 2 Ys and 2 low nose Ts, all looking rather poorly with smashed windows etc.
