MAJOR DELAYS - AGAIN BY A FREIGHT TRAIN WITH MECHANICAL PROBLEMS!

Newcastle Line & Central Coast Line - Major Delays
Allow additional time due to a slow moving freight train; mechanical problems at Awaba.

Earlier reports
Bankstown Line - Partial Closure
After mechanical problems with a train at Chester Hill, and after signal damage due to lightning at Sefton.

Western, South, Inner West & Blue Mountains Lines
Lightning strikes affecting signals at Blacktown & Springwood.

(Listen to announcements, and allow extra time, etc - Well make sure the announcements are on the correct platform side this time might help!)

T2 - South Line:

Line between Cabramatta and Granville is suspended due to a train with power issues between Merrylands and Granville. Trains diverted via Regents Park as a result.

Citybound passengers on the T2 South Line were advised to allow additional travel time due to a train with mechanical problems at Yennora.

T1 - North Shore, Northern and Western Lines

Delays to services of up to 20 minutes earlier due to a medical emergency at Lindfield. A train was terminated early at Lindfield as a result, while another was diverted via Epping. Several Central Coast services were also affected.

South Coast Line:

Passengers catching the 2.23pm Central to Kiama train were advised to allow an additional 20 minutes travel time due to a passenger disturbance at Wolli Creek.

This car was in set K85, and its matching trailer should be 4231.

T2 Inner West & South Line  - Partial Closure


The T2 Airport & South and T5 Cumberland lines are partially closed between Campbelltown and Glenfield due to a fatality at Ingleburn. A limited bus service is in operation. Passengers are advised to delay their journey or allow plenty of additional travel time. A train shuttle is operating between Glenfield and Macarthur. Passengers can use their train tickets on Interline buses between Glenfield and Campbelltown. Trains on the T5 Cumberland Line will operate between Blacktown and Olympic Park only, passengers will need to change at Granville to continue their journey.

The 0416 from Lithgow-Central service arrived at Penrith on time at 0614 where it was terminated. This train then formed a Katoomba service, presumably the 0521 Central-Katoomba service that should have departed Penrith at 0609. No reason was given to passengers on the train and it was not reported on the Sydney Trains Service Interruptions page.

Sydney Trains advises that trains have been suspended on the T2 - Inner West & South Line and T3 Bankstown Line between Cabramatta and Regents Park in both directions due to urgent overhead wiring repairs at Carramar. Buses are operating between Cabramatta & Regents Park in both directions Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Passengers catching trains on the T1 North Shore, Northern & Western Line are advised to allow additional travel time due to a power surge which has affected signalling between Thornleigh and Meadowbank and also due to an object being caught in the overhead wiring at Chatswood. Passengers can use their train ticket on Sydney Buses between Chatswood and Epping. Passengers should also listen to announcements and check indicator boards.


Blue Mountains Line

Passengers catching trains in both directions on the Blue Mountains Line are advised to allow additional travel time due to an earlier power surge which affected signalling between Emu Plains and Lawson. Passengers should also listen to announcements and check indicator boards.



T2 Airport Line

Passengers catching trains on the T2 Airport, Inner West & South Line and the T3 Bankstown Line are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time due to a power surge which has affected signalling between Ingleburn and Minto. South Coast Line

Passengers travelling in both directions on the South Coast Line are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time due to lightning strikes affecting signalling between Thirroul and Wollongong. Passengers should also listen to announcements and check indicator boards.

Regarding Blue Mountains Line delay above

The 1806 Central - Mount Victoria service arrived at Parramatta on time. There was plenty of lightning, and this service took 70 minutes to get to Emu Plains! After that it ran at normal speed, so the signaling through to Lawson must have been fixed by then.

Interestingly but unrelated, I saw V50 citybound at Valley Heights with no lights on inside the carriages. The rear 4 cars were lit normally.

The 8:56am Port Kembla to Waterfall train has been cancelled due to the train requiring mechanical repairs at Mortdale. Alternate transport has been arranged between Port Kembla and Wollongong. Additionally, the 8:17am and 8:55am Kiama to Central trains will make extra stops between Wollongong and Sutherland. Passengers should allow additional travel time, listen to station announcements and check indicator boards.

T2 - Airport Line:
Sydney Trains advises that trains have been suspended on the T2 - Airport Line between Turrella and Revesby in both directions due to flooding at Bardwell Park. Major delays can be expected. Train services are being diverted via Granville. We recommend customers delay their journey or make alternative arrangements. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Blue Mountains Line:
Sydney Trains advises that trains have been suspended on the Blue Mountains Line between Katoomba and Lithgow in both directions due to a heavy storm. Major delays can be expected. Road closures are preventing us from providing alternative services and customers are asked to delay their travel plans. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

South Coast Line:
The South Coast Line is partially closed between Wollongong and Port Kembla in both directions. Due to flooding of the line at Port Kembla. A replacement bus service has been arranged between Wollongong and Port Kembla. Passengers should also listen to station announcements and check indicator boards.

Services continue to run between Katoomba and the city however passengers are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time. Additionally buses will supplement some services. Buses are unable to access Bell and Zig Zag railway stations due to road closures along the Bells Line of Road.
