    Hi

    Is there an update on this? Dates etc?

    The ultimate test to how Southern Crosses' 2 SG Platform Faces handle a combined train of at least 25 vehicles will be shown in March next year.... That's all I'll say at the moment, as planning is still underway & this charter product hasn't been launched yet, but shall be very soon... -

    The  Anzac itinerary does not come any further  South than  Benalla / Yarrawonga .

    I posted the link as it involves the Southern Aurora during 2015 and it's in Victoria.

    The March trip still remains a mystery, if LegendsofSteam could enlighten us further, it would be appreciated.Razz

    I belive there is a private charter happening about then in relation to the mardi gras in sydney. similar to the pride train to shep a little while ago. This could be the train he mentions.

    Is there enough standard gauge passenger carriages available to even do that? So of the remaining twenty eight carriages from the thirty four, there should be a power van or two (main and a spare - down to twenty six) and they won't want them all to be seating only. I'd say about twenty twinettes or better.

    Either way it'd be an interesting train to see, just for it's length alone, more if they get something interesting to power it.

    From a railfan perspective it will be a good train to watch coming over Heathcote Jcn, as well as along the route. To far out to say what will be on front probably anyways. those that are organizing the trip will likaly have some idea, but of corse it could all change in the coming 3 months

    Location: Ballan, Victoria on the Ballarat RFR Line
    From a railfan perspective it will be a good train to watch coming over Heathcote Jcn, as well as along the route. Too far out to say what will be up front anyway. Those that are organising the trip will likely have some idea, but of course it could all change in the coming 3 months.

    From a gay railfans perspective, it'd be a lot of fun and a fantastic bargain travelling to/from Sydney...Very Happy

    2 Bar/Lounges = the two Lounge cars ex Southern Aurora

    3 Dining cars = the two Dining cars ex Southern Aurora and 1 ex Brisbane Limited

    'Party car' = remaining Dining car ex Brisbane Limited with, I assume tables and chairs removed.

    I think at this stage, I personally would be very loath to commit to this trip. "Caveat Emptor" comes into play which means "Buyer Beware".  If the trip does happen sure will be a great spectacle. At this stage there is much homework needed.

    I believe the Shepparton trip was popular a few months back.

    If everyone was a wary as yourself, nothing would happen because people would be too reluctant to commit. The gay community is vast and well ca$hed up.

    No problems with that at all just that at this stage logistics may not be committed or in place.

    I know of the success of the Shepparton trip but this proposal takes on huge proportions and sincerely hope it can be pulled off.  

    There is a lot still needs to happen behind the scenes. There are two months left to make it work.
