Me too, x2 (I recall them being a good price, possibly due to duplication with a competitor)

I also now recall the at-the-time optimistic delivery schedule

This is beginning to look like a couple of other manufacturers...

'XYZ' is nearly finished, 'ABC' has to be redesigned, 'DEF' got lost by the courier...

And meanwhile there's other projects (ie. NSW Block Train Petrol Tankers) that are just getting pushed back further and further

I don't think Southern Rail was ever immune to the delays and problems that occur in China.
I think the big difference is that pretty much every month there is an update, and whilst not every project is mentioned each time, at least you do hear something about where things are at much more regularly than every other producer.
For instance Auscision announce a product and other than the appearance of pre-production samples which indicate some progress, those things are not otherwise mentioned in any updates on their blog, so it is a total mystery as to where many of their projects are at.
Austrains is quite good at mentioning where each project is at (not as frequent as SRM though), but not quite so good at showing us photos of pre-production samples.

In recent days I've received my pre-order cement hoppers and Vlocity sets. The two advertising livery versions come with a colourful A4 sized certificate, customised with the relevant advertising logo (octopus or 100th vlocity).
First view of my velocities show them to look even more impressive than the Xplorers, unfortunately a little typo made its way onto the limited edition 100th velocity logo (should be " it's " not "its".).  While looking at the models I thought "I don't really like that obvious gap between the body and cow catcher, might have to deduct 1/2 a point for that", then I looked at the prototype pictures on the box and saw the gap is exactly as it should be! Each box comes with instructions covering body removal, DCC, exploded parts diagram, etc.

And after all the discussions back in August and talking to Rocket at Liverpool, they still didn't get the black inside the headlight and horn cutouts correct....

More unboxing pics, assisted by my other cat Smile

I got the two limited edition advertising sets VL21 + VL38, and VL00 (2 car) + VL50 (3 car) in purple. Will add the new PTV livery to the collection when it's done in the re-run.

There's posts on facebook from retailers and Southern Rail advising their stocks are already getting low.

Only one prototype VL set had the new livery when SRM had to commit to model production, and PTV couldn't say if the livery was to be amended so no approval granted for it to appear on models. There has been lots of interest in the new livery, we can rest assured if it can be done it will be. There's also many other advertising logos that have been carried by the prototype, some of which could be candidates for the models if the first run is a success, however there are many hurdles to get approval from all parties involved. One can only imagine the royalties payable for the Wallace & Gromit livery.

I would buy a PTV vlocity if they made it, especially if they made VL53

On another forum it was mentioned there is a DCC issue, that the model it totally wired to work with ESU decoders. This to some may be a dissapointment, as I initially thought. But on reflection have decided that the reason they chose that path is they have extra functions working, making the most of the 21 pin format. Thus a better model.

Poath, can I order one nice cart, yours popped out of the box.  I'd give  the guys some time as more people get theirs to get more examination etc.

And if  want one, order one. Who knows when another batch, if ever, will be done.

Regards,
David Head

ps ordered 2 ESU's from Model Railway Craftsman just now.

Any commentary/views on the PRX's from those who have received theirs?

I just wrote a big reply that got eaten when submitted Sad  So a short version now: I have both SRM & SDS versions, each has its merits. If you can sit down with both manufacturers models to compare you'll keep finding more and more subtle differences.
