It is nice to see some of the locomotives in the older paint schemes.  National Rail was one of the last major initiatives by any Federal Government to introduce much needed rail reform.  Paul Keating was quite visionary in the way he standardised the network in the southern states and with the commonwealth buying into the national rail freight market.

The disappointment was to follow in merging freightcorp with national rail which undid the entire deal and the benefit to users of rail. It would have been better to leave National Rail in place as a competitor to Freightcorp and Vline. QR was minimal in the national market at the time.

Not sure what you mean by that, it was just normal re-ballasting work.

Hey GOG. Two trains through the loop in the past few minutes for a cross.

Is this an actual cross or is the grainy on BG?

Not sure if anyone has noticed.  Gheringhap Loop Camera 3 is taking some really nice HD shots this time of year especially around sunset. The images being recorded just look fantastic. Here Nr120 and NR112 head toward Geelong and Melbourne running PM6
