By all means, please continue bashing a service that has worked more reliably than it has today for many months.

By all means, go get a job in the Fleet Maintenance division of Sydney Trains and fix all the issues.

The truth is that things do, occasionally, break.

Interesting, just before our train arrived at 6:10am at Emu Plains there was a massive flash up the mountains, it wasn't lightning either as it was a clear sky. Also any truth that a train derailed at Penrith this morning (that's what I heard) ???

Pictures on the NSW TrainLink West Twitter page show that Endeavour Energy power lines have come down (snapped??) over the rail line with their high voltage lines touching the rail 1500v lines. My train, the 5.43am from Wentworth Falls, went into complete darkness at Faulconbridge. The lights, etc. eventually came back on about 5 mins later and the train terminated at Valley Heights with trains further behind terminating at Springwood. A bus to Penrith finally turned up at Valley Heights at 8.10am.
I didn't see any derailed train at Penrith.

I just drove past and it's actually one of the 66kV feeders to Blaxland substation (which I believe are actually owned by TfNSW, not Endeavour) - the one that runs down Layton Ave. Looking at where they were repairing it (north of the underpass there), it probably landed on both the 1500V overhead and the 11kV that runs the signals. I heard there was a signal failure as well this morning - that would explain it.

Edit: Just found this on Twitter: That's the 11kV holding up the downed 66kV Line...
