A 23-year-old Albert Park man has died following an alleged train surfing accident in Melbourne's south-east last month.

Investigators believe the man jumped, or fell, from the top of a train as it reached the McKinnon Railway Station around 10:45pm on February 25.

Witnesses alerted Protective Services Officers and police after spotting the man on top of a carriage. PSOs performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The kid jumped off 371M. Accident at McKinnon Platform 1.

Let that be a lesson to anyone thinking of surfing on trains.

There is really no way to prevent this behaviour.  it comes down to education and working hard to ensure youth realise the dangers of riding on trains in this manner.  No doubt the boys parents are very very upset as would the PSO's who were faced with the drama and the need to attempt to revive the boy.

No 'boy'...he was a 'responsible' ...that is, responsible for his actions adult aged 23.

No doubt the station will now be graffiti bombed, with a convenient absence of police.

Agree,
and I keep hearing a similar reference to two other men in a not too dissimilar position as someone riding a train.

No great loss.

This is, in fact, another example of the yet to be identified and isolated 'Stupidity Virus', that is better known by its results rather than its genetic makeup. Examples of its biological effects include adding 1+1 and getting 3 but not noticing the error, paint spraying other peoples property and thinking you're wonderful and, the most recently identified, ISIS; although there is a group who think that that particular example is caused by indoctrination from a tender age by someone who has already contracted the virus. We should hope funds will be available in a future budget that will lead to its actual genetic form being indentified and a vaccine developed.

This illness is closely associated with FITH (funny in the head) disease, particularly the more advanced stage of FITH (f----d in the head).
The Indonesians have already developed an antidote but there remains doubt as to the precise timing to administer the antidote.

Well a 23 year old isn't a kid, but nor are they fully adult. I reckon most people become properly emotionally mature around 25. Becoming a proper grown up starts around 16 and takes around a decade. I guess we need to have an arbitrary age where a person becomes officially "adult". Our society chooses either 18 or 21.

In any case, what will his executors do with the Darwin Award this idiot will surely be posthumously awarded?

Wait...something's wrong...nobody's blaming the level crossing yet...

True. It would seem unlikely that he gave any prior 'thought' to the possible outcomes of his 'idea' and updated his will accordingly beforehand.

The 'infectee' who put his daughter on the railway line at least 'thought' to stick around and 'undo' his 'idea' at the last moment.
