Site Access almost impossible

    Location: Victoria
    Site access at the present time is almost impossible. I have been trying to access for 24 hours and only getting the unavailable message.  This service is now almost always in overload state.

    Can we have an update on proposed changes to fix this and what is required (if anything) from us users?

    Appreciate you are working on it and it probably involves money and lots of it.

    Press CTRL+F5 when you encounter the outage page; it's usually only a momentary outage but unfortunately the outage page gets cached in your browser.

    The site is working much better this morning, but for the past couple of days it has been slower than an arthritic snail, with the outage page appearing often despite [CTRL+F5] being pressed often...

    I completely agree with this post, today Railpage is quite slick, prior today though it had all the speed of  a snail on moose tranquilisers.

    On the outage page I have not had it today, this being quite a rare event over the past few months. I found though it was still comming up even if one swapped browsers, in this case Firefox and google  chromium.

    Guys we thank you for your patience.  We are aware of the capacity issues and many $1000's has been invested in new hardware and data centre capacity to correct our overloading.

    This new setup in Melbourne is almost complete.  We are nearly there.

    Why are we wanting to complete the upgrade?  We have capacity problems.  We also want to release our new features to the market which we currently cannot do.

    I also wanted to say thanks to all involved in this project.  We are very lucky to have a site and service such as this.  Over the past few weeks I have found it very very hard to get online.  

    I hope the plans detailed above by @bevans can be completed and I look forward to any new services the team has planned for us.

    I guess in some ways the site is a victim of its own success and I can only image how much this beast costs to maintain and run.

    I've been trying to submit a post in the Victorian section. Using the quick reply is no good since as soon as I press submit, it brings up the "submit a reply" page. If I cut and paste my post into that, when I click on submit it just takes me back to a blank submit a reply page again. I'm just glad I saved my original text in word so after each failure to upload, I have the option of cut and paste the next time I attempt to post!Sad

    Railpage will be unavailable later today for approximately 5 hours to enable the transition of the site and site database systems to new and faster hardware.  We expect the current systems to be taken offline early evening. When Railpage resumes the will be running on new code and also new hardware at the RDC.

    Once the transition is completed we expect all access and overload issues will be a thing of the past.

    We're monitoring the situation but yes, everything has been cutover. There'll be a forum post soon showcasing some of the new features Smile

    downloads area does not work.  cannot download a file.  get this error

    No video library (libav or ffmpeg) was found

    Thanks for all the feedback.  It is much appreciated.

    As I have mentioned on the forums previously, this new upgrade represents the largest single investment into Railpage by us.  Please enjoy the site.

    As for connections.  This should provide some insight.
