Account the fire yesterday on the peninsula the Stony Point line suffered approximately 1 km of track damage.  Now thee are 4 important freight trains per day on this line and various passenger services.

How long is it going to take Metro to effect this maintenance and get trains running again?  Are Metro actually capable of effecting important and time sensitive repairs or are we in for more yawning and a protracted fix?

The fact this line carries regular freight for a large corporation will probably see repairs made quicker rather than slower.  Money talks louder than people.

And that's a good thing.  It provides impetus to make repairs happen quickly.  Otherwise the fine citizens of the Mornington Peninsula would be bustituted for weeks or months.

Old gangers rule of thumb you can run trains over track at very low speed provided 1 in 4 or more sleepers are in tact after fire .

Was that the service that had been held at Frankston?

I should've elaborated that no services had been seen through the South Yarra area.
