    Is it just me or does it seem that it is taking a rather long time for the balance of the JCW wagon production run to arrive?  ................

    No - its not just you. From a private email conversation I had with SDS back in October they were expecting the remaining JCW packs in two lots in late November and then early December. Clearly hasn't happened. With us going away for the next couple of weeks I'm now hoping they don't get here until January. I'm also waiting on the gas tankers with indication from the Dec AMRM that they weren't expected until just before Chinese NY or possibly after (which probably means May/June with the typical delays in restarting factories).

    As an aside, I recently (a week or so ago) had my CC debited for my 81s ordered early this year. I'm not expecting this means the 81s will be coming any time soon but rather they were debiting CCs to beat their advised price rise from Jan 1.

    Well, the Victorian 10000 gal tank wagons aren't even here yet, and I can't wait for a rerun with new numbers. Not enough tank wagons around yet,  but hopefully there's a lot more to come.

    I do not have a direct reference for the T, but the yellow doors would indicate that it was used in the W&W branch.

    Regarding the remaining packs of 80ft JCW wagons, I've just noticed an exchange (a couple of days old) on the Hobbyland Facebook page indicating the packs are to be shipped before Chinese New Year. Obviously not official news, but at least some news.

    Think a delay somewhere til, about April ish. Dont quote me, but I cant recall where i read or heard it.

    Their website is a bit dated, but seemingly facebook gets more updates. Must be easier for most of these mobs with facebook than updating their own sites cos they're mostly all like this with info.

    Two updates posted today on their Facebook page (no mention on their website yet):

    NSW JCW Wagon:

    Most of the remaining NQJW stock will arrive at Port Botany in a little over a weeks' time on the 20th February. Whilst our vendor tried hard to deliver the balance of the project prior to the CNY holiday the NRC versions took longer than anticipated to complete and didn't make the shipping cut off date. These will be shipped, along with the VR GY open wagons, early next month. As we underestimated the demand for the JCW variants we have requested, if time permits, a small re-run be shipped together with the NRC versions and GYs.



    SA SOC Wagon:

    Austrains designed and tooled two body variants and the Ecofab roof for the zinc concentrate wagon. The project was designed to share a bogie from the TrainOrama range. Kader have located the original SandaKan drawings and we are currently updating these to reflect a few small changes to the coupler pocket and the bogie mount. The design of a new bogie is underway and we expect some completed running samples around May. Delivery is expected later this year and the models will likely be offered in a 6 pack.

    Location: On the 1 in 40.
    Except for the two National Rail liveried packs, still to come, all the rest of the delayed 80' container wagons are now showing "In Stock" on SDS's Products page. The five earlier versions are all marked "Sold Out".

    Thanks for the heads-up Steve. Hopefully that means my NQJWs aren't that far away. I am surprised the JCWs have sold out. We don't know how many were produced but even so I didn't think the three-letter coded JCWs would have been that popular given their relatively short life span.

    Nope, I don't think you missed anything (unless I missed it too). Last I saw was the post on Facebook about order forms and prices being available mid-January. Nothing yet on Facebook or their website and no response to my two emails over the past month or so about it.

    Hi all,

    I saw this announcement but I'm wondering about the versions especially for the cars which are used between Broken Hill and South Australia. I suppose that the last two mentioned sets NR1 and NR2 with grey and orange represent this fleet of SOC cars when I check my "SA bible" ("South Australia Diesel Pictoral" from Bob Grant, Malcolm Holdsworth and Barry Marshall) page 98 and 112 bottom (maybe also page 106) but when I see the picture on page 87 in MotivePower issue 103 (2015 pictoral) then the cars still look green and yellow. Do they have different train consists or what is the truth?
    I'm looking forward for any helping comments.

    Excellent,  great to hear.
    It'd been quite for a while,  so hopefully the stuff trickles through,  whilst they absorb and redo some Austrains stuff too.

    At least on the North East (Victoria), there were few of these on a train, but they always stood out. Safety issues were of great concern to management and unions alike. But they stood out on any train.
    I suspect these will sell out very quickly if you model Interstate  or main line freights.

    Yes the Tankers ran on the gauge however some ran on the five foot three.

    Tanks GS 409,405 and 403 became TWX 1,2 and 3 respectively in 1974 repainted for and displaying the Heatane Gas Logo for the Gas and Fuel Corporation of Victoria the owners..

    They were loaded at Shell Geelong, possibly at other Refineries or loading points such as Bittern???
    They ran to Mildura and Warrambool and ????.
    When photographed at Wodonga shown on Rob O'Regan's web site were they on broad gauge?
    All in all they look to be a great model that suits the 1970's and "on" era.
