Pichi Richi Railways Coffee Pot return to service

    A print version of the Pichi Richi Railways timetable for 2016 turn up yesterday .

    And some good news the Coffee Pot is back on the rails after 7 years .

    this info is not on there website yet or there Facebook page.

    So far two trips are planed for 12th June  Sunday & 2nd October  Sunday .

    and also looks like it will be in steam for there Heritage weekend 23rd & 24th of April .


    There could be more runs during the year . Have to keep a eye on there Facebook site etc.

    On the link above it has the coffee pot running twice this year .


    Today I went on the Pichi Richi Railway booking site and are a bit confused .

    On the booking site it has the coffee pot running every Saturday and Sunday from June to October .

    It seems that one of the sites need updating to save on confusion .

    Great news, wonderful train. They used to have one of these running Mt Gamber-Beachport as well as the mid-north, an interesting and authentic quirk of South Australian rail history.

    Hi All, there has been an error in populating the V3 booking system for the Coffee Pot.

    The two public runs for 2016 are Sun 12th June and Sun 2nd Oct, plus the heritage weekend in April.

    I have contacted our administrators for the V3 system to get it fixed.

    the error with the V3 travel booking system has been corrected. The link should now show bookings only for the Sun 12th June and Sun 2nd Oct dates.

    And is going to be used on the heritage weekend 23rd & 24th April

    Went up to Quorn yesterday (23rd) for the Heritage Weekend and the running of the Coffee Pot on a shuttle service with customers between the railway station and PRR workshops. Many trips were made backwards and forwards with over a thousand passengers for the day.

    The Coffee Pot did not miss a beat and was great to see it back in operation.

    Okay, okay read here that the Coffee Pot will be running at Quorn after a 7 year restoration .. so what does one do .. damm .. YES MAN .. so jump a flight with my youngest, hire a car, stop off for lunch in the Clare Valley, there was no accommodation Sat in Quorn so head to Peterborough and do the Light and Sound show .. Sunday rock into Quorn ...  awesome SmileSmile  Coffee Pot is an amazing train .. and a bonus behind the W for a 2.5 hr trip followed by workshop tours being shuttled by the Coffee Pot.  Some snaps for you SmileSmile

    Ross, Motor Inspection Car, MIC126 is a Morris, fitted with a Holden 6 cyl grey engine. If it had been a Ford, it probably wouldn't have been running on the day.

    Hi All, Today, was the real return of the Coffee Pot to operations (after a decade hiatus). 22 very content passengers traveled from Quorn to Woolshed Flat and back again, and from what I here, were very well fed at Woolshed Flat.
    The two programmed Quorn - Woolshed Flat and return excursions for 2016 sold out very quickly, an additional service on Sunday 17th July (middle Sunday of school holidays) also sold out very quickly.

    The sky is still up there and the sun will rise tomorrow.

    The PRR Executive Committee meet this week, and may discuss a further public operation.
    There are also several inquiries for Special Hires too, for the remainder of this year and also into next year.
