unlike most of the Exhibitions around the circuit now hobsons bay's exhibition so far has the best meals available to there exhibitors and most affordable to the public
hobsons bays exhibition is on the first weekend of July 2016 in the union hall at la trobe uni plus the Odeon room with so far 14 layouts and about 19 traders
some rumours have been travelling around because of hobsons bay club has no club rooms at present that people have said the exhibition was not going ahead but believe me its in full swing of being on in the next week we will be starting our floor plan and just be doing the final things to hopefully we will be the best exhibition and most affordable to attend
as well as ive heard rumours AMRA's  exhibition will cost $15 for entry that's ridiculous there rent must've gone up on Caulfield race course

so mark ya calendars for the first weekend in July
HBMRC Exhibition of Australian model railways  is on
Saturday 2nd July 10am to 5pm
Sunday   3rd July  10am to 4pm

Apart from the Hurstbridge model show this weekend, the Hobson Bay is a "local" exhibition for me !

Looking forward to it already.

What a boring Easter Sad First Easter in over 20 years with no where to go Very Happy

Every Easter I could was spent at Hobsons Bay.
So I thought I might head over to Bendigo, but that is a three and half hour drive and my mate that lives there is away with Diamond Valley Railway at the Convention
So cant face a three and half return drive home on the same day.
So I guess I better finish of my wall in the layout room Wink

We just returned from setting it up.
the new hall is really nice, well lit and quiet. Its heated.
The Australian and Chinese meals at $10 a plate are huge and very tasty. Coke at $2.50 a can. Where else are you going to get bargains like that!

Orient Express have single Auscision E cars and sets too. XPTs and all the rest. Their is enough traders with Aussie trains to make most happy.
To be honest, I set up signs all afternoon to try and help you find your way in . Tried my best every sign leads to another one. Please come in (Chifley? Yeah right I was misinformed) drive and you will see breadboard Exhibition signs at the lights half way between Plenty road and the rail Line (Macleod?)
Then follow signs to carpark 4 which is free parking. You will not be hassled in 4, but 3 is available too.
Walk towards the creme brick Union buildings and follow signs to entrance other side of building.
14 layouts in attendance from all over the place. EVERY one an Aussie one too. Who said you could not have an "All Australian" Exhibition.
Modelling competition entries welcomed Please bring them in first thing as judging is before lunch I believe.

Watto and Ian Wilson got some nice stuff there as well Halkmoor have their new wagons
SDS have samples and lots of their normal range. I even saw Bills Decals hiding in a corner Rob Carpenter has a great set up of N scale there as well
I will look for more stuff tomorrow Smile
Cheers

As did I. Glad, as i needed a few and hadn't seen Bill or his wide selection of decals at an Exhibition in some time.

Be interested in comments about layouts. Personally I liked the large one down stairs, and particularly the upstairs one Gordon. This one was enhanced by sound loco's. Those 3 G class sounded pretty damn good together. I also liked the bogie pickup to make a red flashing light on the last wagon.

Due to work draining a fair amount of my creative energy, I like many others dropped out of the Oz-32 competition. Though after seeing the only remaining entrant, a minimum space HO gauge inglenook sidings variant, I suspect we may've gone all Grand Designs and tried to build Windsor Castle when all we needed was to build Caisteal an Stalcaire. My initial idea is now on the back burner & those who've seen some of my other posts have an inkling of what might appear -from me- next year.
