Maddington Freight line

Hi
I was just wondering if the narrow gauge freight line that connects with the Armadale line at Maddington is still used?  I haven't seen a train on that line for years and the rails are quite rusty.

I think you mean Kenwick, which is near Maddington, and the link which connects the Armadale line to the Forrestfield - Cockburn Junction railway (Kenwick Junction).  Its only use now is for infrastructure trains, and none has run for a while.

Thanks. yes I shouldn't be so lazy!  That other post was an interesting read.

Ha.. It's not lazy.  Searching previous threads on this place (or most other forums) is often problematic.  Especially if you're not sure what terms/dates/place names to use.
I'd love to see a train on that track.. Only in my dreams I suspect.

I'm pretty sure they take track machienes on and off the suburban network at Kenwick Junction. That would only happen in the early hours of the morning after all services are finished. Considering they just upgraded Kenwick platform recently and they kept the Junction in, means to me that someone, somewhere in a high place knows about it, and want it kept open for whatever reason.

I was driving along the Roe Hwy a few weeks back.  I saw the indicator lights on the signal, approaching that line from the north, pointing off to the left..
Maybe it was a train switching from one mainline track to the other?  But I like to think something was going to pass though that transfer line..
~laughs~

I almost pulled over to see what would happen.
