The rumours about X'traps being unable to make the timetable especially on the Werribee line due to the computer problems they have seems to be pretty false. They can REALLY put the pedal to the metal, especially between Williams Landing and Hoppers Crossing [and vice versa]. I'm sure that's the fastest I've ever been on one of those anywhere

They couldn't keep to the timetable because they used to be restricted to 90km/h. Said restriction was removed a while ago prior to their first revenue run on the Werribee line.

Braking curve was out of spec when tested over 100km/h. Of course, if you are going to hit something at 115km/h with no way to avoid it, it won't make a lick of difference if the train was still doing 104 at the point of impact when it should have only been doing 102 with the brakes on full emergency! The Comeng vs. truck incident at Dandenong proves that.

The trains have not had any modifications. Metro simply put out a circular saying the restriction has been removed.

Haven't seen one running out to Werribee yet. Are there any regular services usually operated by Xtraps?

I rode an X'Trap from Werribee to Southern Cross today.
I was a bit too excited to try to check our speed before Williams Landing, but, while looking out for kilometre posts and using my stopwatch I think we travelled at 120km/h for over 7km along the express route.

How frequent are X-Traps on the Cross city circle group? Haven't really had time to observe X-Traps on this group yet but it appears they aren't as frequent on the former original Connex lines.

I rode an X'Trap from Werribee to Southern Cross today.I've used my stopwatch between Km posts before. I think my train (a V'lo) covered a KM in 25 seconds. That is fast. I had a speedo on my old phone. It didn't really work in V'los but it did in Xtraps. I think about 90 was the fastest I've travelled in an Xtrap. I can't imagine it was too comfortable going 120 on the Werribee line.

It was a blanket removal of the 90klm maximum. If anyone's really keen you may experience 95 up or down the hill between Holmesglen and Jordanville.

I've used a GPS to clock an X'Trap on the Werribee line. For one second it maxed out at 118 but that was going under a bridge. Seemed to sit at 114. Ride was bad but not as terrible as I expected it to be, not too different to a H set on the same set of tracks (pre-RRL of course).
