A station that once had nearby sidings at both the up and the down ends, and at both sides of the lines (for each end). It no longer has any sidings or turnouts. The sand quarrying sidings were abolished by the mid 1960s, and only the down end sidings remained. The last siding was removed around 25 years ago.

Yes! Seaford it is. Well done Alamein_Line.
There were several sidings at Seaford (all existing during the 1920's). Each end and side of the lines were represented:

Looks like Hampton - opened with line extension to Sandringham, renamed Retreat a month later (why?), back to Hampton after two years. The tramway reference gave it away.

During construction I was known as Name A, but with the intention that I would be opened as Name B. However, I was actually opened as Name C. Many years later I was renamed as Name D, which is my current name. There was an attempt after that to change me again to Name E, but that did not stick.
When opened, I was outside the then-defined suburban boundary, so I was regarded as a "country" station.

9/10 to Gauntlet, whose reply is more accurate than Valvegear's - Upper FTG is a different station. It is actually Ferntree Gully. It was known as Cemetery during construction, and was to be opened as Scorseby, but was in fact opened as "Lower Ferntree Gully" (name C) in 1889. Renamed as "Ferntree Gully" (name D, current name) in 1962. In 1972 an attempt was made to rename it as "Fern Tree Gully" ** (three words, name E), but that name did not stick, and today it is still "Ferntree Gully".
Apparently it was never called Cemetery as an operational station, only was referred to by that name during construction.

The railway line between these two stations has had level crossings removed by all four methods - ie. road raised, road lowered, rails raised, and rails lowered.
