NRE Locos in Australia

Wth SCT trialling the two gensets recently (1201 and 1202) I started doing a bit of research about the rumoured other 3 or the reported 5, whether or not they even exist or not and stumbled across a few things that I think warrents them to have their own thread instead of digging up something from 2012

1100 class E-3000E3B's

I'll skip the QUBE locos as we seem to know enough about them as is, 1101 - 1108 are in AUS and have been working with QUBE, blah blah blah
1109 and 1110 that were part of the original QUBE order that was rumoured to be 12 but cut to only 8 haven't been just sitting around in undercoat as has been assumed. It seems that as far back as mid last year at least 1110 has been painted in NRE's new corporate colours along with 1109 and rumour has it 1111 exists and is or is to be painted up the same way for apparent lease work in Australia. They don't look half bad in my opinion in the all over black and white

Oddly enough both 1109 and 1110 are shown as both the background and as one of the sub images in this brochure on the NRE website but not really mentioned at all anywhere else http://www.nre.com/sites/default/files/nre_locoleasing_flyer_lowres_feb2017.pdf

Their 'leasing' page on their site also has a lineup of the front of both locos:

1200 class 3GS24C-DE-AU Gensets

After some digging and a lot of roumour, the 5 locos reported to be built for australia several years back have actually been built. 1201 and 1202 as we know are in the country in their Gold and Blue colours and have been out and about but 1203 as rumoured to be leased to El Zorro at the time has indeed been built and painted in a ELZesque sheme whiel 1204 and 1205 have been pushed to the back of NRE's yard and left in undercoat. No word, not even rumour yet of what the go is with them but I wouldn't be surprised to see them shipped with the other 2 or 3 1100's

Edit: I somehow completely forgot to add in those little Port Kembla critters, oops!

PB class 2GS16B-AU

Nothing much to say about these, all 7 have arrived and are in service with PN, keeping out of the spotlight. More info or reports of what they're up to would be much appreciated!

Any additions or corrections are very welcome, I find a new builder playing in the Australian scene very interesting to see and what they have to offer

By my count there were 6 3GS24C-DE-AU Gensets built

The 2 in Australia 1201/1202
1203 which was painted up in an El Zoro livery, still at Mount Vernon, El Zoro logos removed, heaps of photos at http://www.rrpicturearchives.net
2 units parked on the northern side of the Mount Vernon plant, still in primer, show clearly in drone shots posted on the US site http://www.trainorders.com on 14/12/2015 (weekend overflight without permission)
A lease/hire unit for Exxaro on 3'6" bogies, in the Republic of the Congo
This is the Congo unit in transit in the States 17/02/2013
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3381922
There is another photo of this unit uncovered in the CFCO works at Pointe Noire, on the French Language site http://www.trains-en-voyage.com, copyright issue so will not post

If you were to bring up Mount Vernon Illinois in a search on http://www.rrpicturearchives.net, you will unearth around 2500 photos

Although the black and white looks a bit like Norfolk Southern colours, the NS colour scheme is my fav US colour scheme and these look almost as good

Re colours, these look quite good!  It'd be good to see some different liveries in the Aus market like these.  Though of course this is completely contrary to my economic rationalist hat I usually wear.

Re the black ones though, how would they go in visibility tests at level crossings etc?

It doesn't matter because the ones that get cleaned up don't look in the first place, simples!

A bit more digging has brought up some stuff from 2012/13 when they were fresh out of the shops and getting built. It's not quite relevant to what's going on now but I thought it was interesting enough to add to the thread

11XX in primer, I believe it to be one of the two that are now in black and white

Possibly the same 1100 a little earlier in the year:

1202 most likely not long after being built/painted 11/12/2012

I found this vid of some 1100's being constructed and quite a few shots of 1202 trundling around their test track and workshops

And lastly, a couple completed 1100's back in 2012
