Customer Service Attendant (CSA) and

  Ethan1395 Station Master

Location: An OSCar H Set
After a bus driver informed me of the Customer Service position I went to the Transport for NSW website to check it out and I found not one, but two jobs currently going for Sydney Trains so I thought it would be best to share:

If you were unsuccessful with your application for Trainee Train Driver or Gaurd, this could be a back door into the job, or alternatively, a railway position for someone who wants to work on the railway but not necessarily become a driver or guard.

Good luck and God Bless.

I doubt whether being a CSA would be helpful. I'll stand corrected if someone has experienced otherwise.

I will stand to correct you because your answer is totally misleading. In the area where I work a minimum of 6 CSA's have been selected to attend guard school and currently have become guards or are very close to completing guard school. I am not sure how many new outside applicants are successful in their application for guard school, but I would venture that being a CSA gives you a better chance. Drivers are a different animal but I believe CSA-Guard-Driver is the most probable path.

I stand corrected but the original poster seem to suggest a "back door" entry to guard or driver positions. I don't see the advantage if all applicants have to undergo the same standardised testing procedure and meet certain performance criteria in those and the assessment centre interview process. Unless internal applicants are treated differently whether intentionally or otherwise.
