Transfer and Reallocation of VR rolling stock - 17th June 2017

  Carnot Chief Commissioner

Last night there was a transfer and reallocation of a good number of historic VR rolling-stock from Seymour to Newport. R707 also went back home in light steam within the consist:

Avoca - still SRHC but on loan to 707 ops.
VAM - as above?
Melville - to MRPS
Acheron - to VGR
Pekina - to Overland Museum
Wando - to 707 ops

Diesels H5 and P22 were also in the consist that was led by T357.  T357 returned on the Down with BS202, BS209, and Y102, Y104.  Mitta Mitta was on the Up and Down.

Anyone know what's happening with the diesels?

They were telling the train crew that the Y class were to be reactivated, possibly as one loco. A mate I trust was on board; this is what he claims to have been told.

P22 and H5 to 707 Ops on some sort of loan apparently, still privately owned. Both locos close to serviceable condition (P22 sort-of ran, but starved of fuel by about Tallarook).

A look at the Albion action overnight (saturday) revealed the following:

When did these locomotives (Y102 and Y104) go back onto BG?

Y 102 and 104 were part of the group stored for years out the back of South Dynon loco, then relocated a few years back to Steamrall Newport. So I guess they have been broad gauge for several years now!

I believe BS202 & BS209 are going to Seymour in exchange for Shower Car Carey, which arrived at SRV Some time ago.
Neither car has had any work done to it since being purchased from V/Line in the mid 1990's as far as I am aware.

I wouldn't get too excited, if they have gone to Seymour for overhaul they may be for Ettamogah Rail Hub so end up on SG. With the shortage of BG gear being talked about elsewhere this may happen sooner rather than later.
