I live very near this old crossing on Scotchmer Street and it is a bit of a problem. It is part of a combined foot and bike path, and there seems to be lot of people that believe that it's a pedestrian crossing, and that cars have to stop. I have seen a few near misses there. I keep going carefully, and use the horn if necessary - not because I want to hog the road, but because I don't want old people, kids et al lulled into a false sense of security by a mistaken belief that every driver has to stop.
