Poor things, stuck on a stopped train instead of blowing their hard earned dollars of futile gambling and drinking cheap bubbly sold at inflated prices! Rolling Eyes

Lovely to see the so fantastic, consumer freindly Uber taking advantage and price gouging, never see that with proper regulated taxis do you?

Major first world problem isnt it as poor ratbag punters are stopped from wasting their money.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind, too bad (for the racegoers).

Never mind about the passengers who use the system on a regular rather than a once off/odd occasion.

Another exaggerating and totally misleading headline. It appears services were affected on the Burnley group only. What trains run between Caulfield and Darling?

I thought it may have been a fluff media piece but some members here just love to bash Railway Companies for the look at me i hate,Metro,PN,GWA etc etc despite never having worked on the Railways yet they know exactly how in their own minds incompetent these companies are.
Most Train Fans have complete respect for the companies and their employees but some appear to just be haters for the sake of it which is probaby due to simple jealousy.

Or it could be that some of us have been around for a while, and were part of it when it was done well

Yes indeed some of us may have been employees for 25 years even who saw the waste corruption, nepotism, bullying, harrasment and promotion of incompetent staff into managment positions in the so call good old days with a core of hard working dedicated employees in both Blue and White collar postions keeping the systems going despite the millstones around our necks.

Which is something else that has been "grinded" down.  Too much reliance on spelling checkers which use US English.

Oh come on it couldn't have been that bad, they didn't even use the word "fury" this time. Smile

There should be a purposely done train delay every time these people want to go to Flemington. Then, they'll waste all their money on Uber to Flemington then realise they have no money left.

If there is a meltdown every time something like this happends, I would worry about some people in society and what they are doing with their lives.

Delays again this morning due to lightening strikes causing signalling issues.

You would think that members reporting Metro delays would perhaps use the actual Metro delays thread.

The photo of the train and vehicle in the same shot is truly frightening.

"A maintenance worker in a high-vis vest can be seen sitting on the back of the vehicle facing the oncoming train."

774 ABC Melbourne's Jon Faine (of whom I am no big fan) was tearing strips off a Metro spokesman this morning as the spokesman continued to label the incident a Signal fault.

The article I posted is not "days old news" it is from yesterday afternoon at 4.18pm and it was all over Melbourne radio this morning. If you don't think that a loaded passenger train coming within 60 M of hitting a Hi Rail is big news that is your prerogative.

The fact that Metro BSd about it and then kept on saying in the face of evidence to the contrary that it was a signal failure is worthy of a post in my opinion.

Rail Safety enquiry already underway.

Why doesn't anyone actually Read The Forking Article these days?

Metro Trains was notified of the maintenance vehicle about 10:15am and "launched an investigation immediately to understand all factors involved", said spokesman Marcus Williams.

The train is said to have slowed and stopped more than 60 metres from the maintenance vehicle, and was moved to a platform at Flinders Street, where passengers disembarked.

The incident triggered a signalling response, which brought all trains in the vicinity to a stop.

"Trains were stopped while we ensured we had eliminated any safety risk and apologise to our passengers for the delays this caused, which we know were frustrating," said Mr Williams.
Monumental safety breakdown' the real cause of Winx race train delays
The signalling response disrupted regular operations - isn't that a 'signalling issue'?
  Clyde Goodwin2 Chief Train Controller

BG the Incident occurred on Saturday so it is indeed Days old.
