QSI manual is now a hefty 468 pages, you can download it at http://qsindustries.com/manuals/full%20dcc%20manual.pdf

pages 29-31 cover the various F9 shutdown and F6 startup modes.

page 32 covers the quick system volume increase/decrease.

Thanks PJ,

You have answered all points for me.

Upon reading the QSI manual I am aware that I misquoted the F10 status report.  It should have been "ID3, Disconnect".

I shall endeavour to use this information on Friday to reprogram 4001.

I shall report back on the outcome.

Muchas gracias,

John

Hello again,

Have downloaded the QSI manual and have had a go at adjusting the 40 class with sound.  4001 has been reset using the F6 key and is now operating as normal.

Using F13 and F14 gave a disappointing result.  Hitting F14 for the first time gave the response "Max".  So the loco, as it comes, is already at the maximum sound level.  So the horn and loco sounds cannot be easily increased in volume.  The sound level is really only acceptable in a quiet room with no other sound trains running.

Thanks to those who commented on this issue.

Happy listening,

John

Dazz,

The 40 class did have a normal builders plate plus another plate, 10 inches long, by 2 inches high advising the they were built to the ALCO designs from NY, USA.

Pleased with my loco, only trouble is I can't remember which birthday the family gave me the loco as a present. Sound levels out of the box quite nice. only fault was one coupler HUNG LOW.

Les.

Indeed. Good news regarding the tooling. Hopefully everything is there and the projects can go ahead.

No, not a new blog update, but some welcome news for others.

Those that pre-ordered the Eureka private owner coal hoppers would be aware that deliveries have been made.  My two sets arrived last week and to all intents and purposes appear identical to the Phoenix Reproductions version, but in a green Eureka box.

These are, arguably, some of the best produced coal hopper models to date.

I look forward to some more joint projects achieving completion.

Happy rolling stocking,

John

Regarding the Eureka 59 Class. I have had my money down in full for this model for 2 1/2 years now.

Nothing has been heard since about this model. Have any members of this forum heard anything new? Corio exhibition perhaps?

I wonder if it is possible that SDS/Phoenix might have taken it on if the 50 and 53 classes are anything to go by.

Robh, there was news last year when Phoenix models were announced that the models under that brand are those proposed by Eureka. SDS in conjunction with Austrains have gained the production rights to most of the Eureka models yet to show, some however are still to be produced by Eureka though, there was news of this posted previously and IIRC that it was also in the AMRM news section at some point.

Also IIRC Eureka is said to be producing the 59cl and the VR Kclass and some other models not sure about what they are, as there has been nothing coming from Eureka itself but I could stand corrected on these things.

Robh - I spoke to Ron C from Eureka  late last year when I picked up a couple of models from him & asked about the 59 (yes I have had one on order for ages). Ron advised that the Vic K was next to be produced (Eureka have had a pre-production sample for some time now) and that the 59 was supposed to have the tooling started this year some time for a, hopefully, 2020 delivery.

I note in the latest edition of AMRM the advert for Eureka makes no mention of the 59 class at all. Nor does it mention the Vic K class either so it is anyones guess as to what is happening at the moment with some Eureka models. No mention of the 59 class in the AMRM news section either the Vic K gets a mention though.

Given that Pheonix seem to have taken over a fair whack of the Eureka Tooling, I would summise Eureka has run into a few issues. Maybe theyve had to abandon a couple of projects.  Or maybe theyve learnt that theyre better off leaving model announcements until closer to the release date
