To save having them all over the shop i thought seeing as we are now into Storm Season we could use a one stop spot to report on talk about these severe weather events.

At this stage of the season, we're sitting here in Melbourne watching what everyone else is copping. For example, the damage done in Kurri Kurri was unbelievable. It's cold down here for November, but otherwise pretty peaceful; we haven't had a decent electrical storm for many, many months.
As a rule, we don't seem to get too many bad storms; strong winds crop up occasionally and a few trees come down which the SES get cleared up pretty fast, but that's about the extent of our dramas.

In Melbourne we've just had a short burst of thunder and lightning, with hail and rain. One quick look at the radar says there's more on the way, coming down from the north east, and there are patches of moderate/heavy colour in there.

Valvegear stay safe those sky rocks tend to hurt and Thanks.

A long line of dry storms from top to bottom of NSW through just west of centre with warnings for Large hail/Damaging winds out now.

Minor flooding in Melbourne means one thing is sure to happen...

A brain dead moron will ignore HUGE warning signs and drive into flood water at the Albert Park underpass of the No. 96 tramline and get swamped.

Yep, it happened again today. Rolling Eyes  I think anyone who is so profoundly dumb to do this should have to pass a literacy test before they are allowed to drive a car again.

You betcha. I got caught in a hailstorm coming home from school ( yes; decades ago!), and made a mental note never to get hit by hail again.

Looking as though Sydney is in for it this Afternoon Also Storms mostly Dry ones across the west of the state.

We have one overhead Melbourne now. Radar showed it heading down from the north and the rain is showing yellow and red, Lightning and thunder have been going for 20 minutes, and the rain is getting heavier. It could be a bumpy ride, folks!

Edit: The storm was pretty short-lived but quite impressive when overhead. More rain on the way but no more storms expected until tomorrow.

A couple in their 20's got out of their car here in Melbourne's storm yesterday, and headed towards a tree, for some unknown reason. They were hit by lightning; the man suffered a cardiac arrest but apparently survived, and the woman was severely burned and died in hospital.
If only they'd stayed in the car they would have been safe.

News up date; the woman died from a cardiac arrest; the man had severe burns. ( We can blame ninemsn for the initial inaccurate report.)

Massive Electrical storms here in Hay and across the east of the Riverina right now also in a line from top of NSW to the bottom.
  Carnot Chief Commissioner

We copped our biggest storm of the year in Bendigo yesterday evening. Over 30mm in the Southern half of town. Hail too.

Friday looks like it could be extremely wet in Vic...

BIG Rains supposedly coming from Thursday night through Sunday for NSW,VIC,SA.
Our local SES (Hay) had their big flash sandbag machine outside their shed today as the Murrumbidgee river is at full height at the moment and all this Supposed rain will cause localised flooding Supposedly.

I'm getting pretty peeved; we have had various heavy falls and storms forecast last week and the week before that... they just didn't eventuate at all - we've had the same forecasts for tomorrow and Friday (in fact up to 25mm) and fingers crossed it actually happens. Just put in a new rainwater tank!
