Or we need to find a way to make certain stops on the Belair line request only - specifically thinking of Millswood, Torrens Park, Pinera.

If it works there, apply it to certain other stops like Marino Rocks, Albert Park, Kudla and so on.

I wonder how many stops would be skipped and how much hold up there would be if stops were by request giving it's a one track service if you skipped half the stop's you'd have to wait in a siding for the train travelling in the other direction. this would probably annoy passengers. I am wondering if converting the Belair line to light rail would be a better and cheaper option than have heavy rail you could connect the Belair line to the current Glenelg line near Goodwood.

Only one problem with request stops how do you actually request the stop, if you put in request stop buttons the Yobbo's will push them and you will still stop at every station along the line. The railcars here only have a driver and the only interaction with passengers is either locking or unlocking the doors and getting wheelchairs on and off the train. No PSA's travel on trains here anymore unless they are having a ticket blitz or returning from somewhere to Adelaide. The driver is the only person on board staff wise at times and they are behind a locked door for safety!

This is not quite ADmet, but yesterday going to the Torrens Island Market I noticed that the Port Flat yard was empty apart from the piggy stackers and one old 20ft container.

Is something happening here as the are usually quite a few containers and old ones used for storage etc in the yard?

From what I've heard, the NRM has been told to free up some space for the new spur line into Port.

From what I have heard there is no firm plan yet in place to actually do any thing there for the new station at the time being it has been suggested that some room may have to to be made. But it could all change if Labor does not get in after the election. Only a small amount of visual inspections have been conducted so far. So it could get knocked on the head if the Liberals get in and need that money for something else.

All they have got the Govt at the moment is an idea and that animation and that is about all any one else knows. How much planning if any is any one's guess at the moment. It was mainly an election sweetener more than providing an essential service though. So after the election who ever wins we might see some kind of announcement one way or the other! Just have to wait to and see though!

The project is happening, it's not just a vague pledge which will be cancelled once the election campaign is done. All approvals necessary from the Parliament (the Public Works Committee has approved it) and Cabinet have already proceeded and it has been handed over to DPTI as a project to proceed.

There has already been a considerable amount of work put into the detailed planning, including surveying of underground services and drilling for soil testing.
