The thing that has me concerned is did they remove the capability of using Oakleigh as a turnback?
That was ripped out long ago. Should've been done as part of CD9, with new stations being two side platforms with space in the middle for two more tracks. It's gonna be a clusterf**k to do now.Right. And of cause if they get around to triple/quadding, some of what they pulled out will have to be redone. And the contempt for outer suburban and Gippsland users continues.
While I understand the (retrospective) case for quadding at the same time as crossing removal, the scope of the project was very clear and it's not like a whole lot of existing infrastructure could have been used anyway. Furthermore, the LXRA has repeatedly stated that nothing they have built would need to be demolished for a quad track. They are not quite as blind as some on these pages seem to believe.Look at the 5 new stations. Where exactly are the two extra tracks going to go? On the outside. Where is there space for two new tracks with the new setup? On the inside.
