    He has quite an adventure from time to time this poster and takes great photos at the same time.

    If only we could get some of this type of post from Australian readers of the site.

    Will anyone be railfanning on the shortest day of the year in Australia?

    Location: Yarra Glen
    Didn't quite make our shortest day, but boarded the QR "Spirit of the Outback" at Roma St on Saturday June 23rd, off at Longreach on the 24th.  (Some more hours of daylight would have been nice.)

    Yes, YM-M the photos are records of the day's activity but I did enjoy reading the account. Thanks M F for bring this to our notice.

    I wrote a similar style account of a day out to see the action just North of the Qld/NSW border about a decade ago. It seemed well received by readers here back then but it took a while to get it written in a readable style. I can't remember where in RP I wrote it. If I find it I'll put a link here.

    I also started my Broken Hill for $5.00 trip on the same date...Melbourne to Cootamundra on the XPT...almost the shortest day.
