QR Trainee Driver positions

Six months on, not much has changed.

QR did get in touch earlier this year to say they expected to progress recruitment testing in May. That month has now come and gone.

However, I did note that on May 22 the Fair Work commission ruled in favour of QR in a hearing to test whether external hiring breached the agreement. Maybe we'll hear something soon... Wait and see...

I’m going for a train guard position and got a call back for my medical and police check so hopefully train drivers are getting contacted as well. Very Happy

Driver applicants were recently invited to register for psychomotor testing next week.

Sessions are allotted ninety minutes each.

I've got my psychomotor assessment next Monday for either a guard or driver position. Can anyone advise the dress requirements for the interview? Full suit & tie? Smart pants, business shirt and tie or smart casual?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

P.S. This has been a trial to get to this stage, applied last August, test in September, notified in January I'd be notified for an appointment in May. Finally there Smile

Hi Mark,

Suggested dress would be smart casual at the least.

Did my testing yesterday and most present looked to be on their way to, or taking a break from work.

Of interest, the testing bumpf did state that candidates would be observed before, during and after the test session. But sartorial excellence probably went ungraded.

Cheers,

Thanks Joe

What was the psychomotor test like? Any tips?

I hope it all went well for you.

Mark, apologies for not seeing your post, I've even to so many of these testing sessions I've forgotten which type of testing it was.

QR have different types of testing. In one type you have a computer console and hit coloured buttons or move a joystick on accordance with screen instructions. The test gradually speeds up until it becomes impossible, the measures your reactions in recovering to a slower speed.

In another test the group was set the 'liferaft' dilemma where you have a list of fifteen people and must negotiate who gets to live and who doesn't.

Alas I washed out at these points so there's not a lot else I can tell you. Except that I wish I'd applied for guard as i may have been more successful.
