If the Coalition did go to the polls early would they be stupid to do that rather than going at the last possible day and trying to build up some votes with the public?
Will we see a range of transport promises for the election?
I'm really rather disillusioned with most Federal pollies and parties these days.
Coalition - Missed opportunities, the smell of corruption, and lots of bad behaviour by those who should know better.
ALP - More elitist and badly behaved than ever. I simply can't trust Bill S.
Greens - Still taking way too many drugs (and they even admit it) and brawling within.
One Nation - As cringeworthy as ever. With a hint of fascism.
Clive Palmer - A clown with too much $$$
As for the microparties - often very inexperienced amateurs with weird ideas in many cases.
I'll be voting while holding my nose...
I think we've previously been pretty thoroughly through the idea of a snap election. By now, it is virtually impossible due to the NSW election on March 23 being in the way. Any attempt to stick a Federal poll in somewhere quickly would give the Electoral Commission a huge attack of the wobbling abdabs.Agree,
The other factor against an early Federal poll is the massive licking that the Coalition copped in Victoria. The Feds will want that horrible example to recede into the distance as far as possible before they have to step up to the plate to cop their whack.

But they were from the far-left and Communist in ideology.I'm really rather disillusioned with most Federal pollies and parties these days.

There's that word again - The Khmer Rouge will be coming around to sign you up shortly![]()
There are two separate Electoral Commissions for the federal and NSW state systems, and the Act which sets the election dates in NSW anticipates the possibility of such a clash by including a provision to delay the NSW election if a federal election is called for what would normally be a date during the NSW campaign period. No doubt correct, but it would be a fair cause of confusion if the Feds (read ScoMo) decide to try and get in first. I'd lay a bet that the voters wouldn't be amused, nor would the NSW Commission which will have already done a lot of preparatory work for the State poll.
Mundine must think he's a modern-day Billy Hughes.Watched them both on the ABC yesterday, Wednesday. The arrogance displayed was amazing.
Whether Morrison thinks at all is questionable. . . this is on a par with Abbott's "Sir Duke of Edinburgh".
Although still a remote possibility, the chances of two Federal elections this year are increasing. If the LNP is still significantly behind in the polls as the time approaches to call a May election then the two-election scenario will come into play. When you’re desperate and lack principles, logic and consideration for the country go out the window. What chances? reading the article it would appear there is zero chance of a two Fed elections and near was a chance for two Fed elections. The option, along with others was presented to the PM office was dismissed outright for the obvious reasons this option hasn't been used in decades, voter backlash.

Why is Palmer even trying again? The man is delusional.Palmer, C and Turnbull, M both paid themselves to lose at the last couple of elections, does that count?Mundine there is that name again, but can he last longer than 92 seconds this one.Is paying someone to lose a thing in politics?![]()

Not dismissed by all in the LNP. Will appear more attractive as the edge of the abyss nears. Six or so more months on ministerial pay, chance things may change, etc. It's the sort of tactic that has to be denied until it's implemented. There'll be back-room people working on a justification now.Do think the entire party shares the same view of the leader or Managers as CEO in a private organisation? It is the job of departmental heads to present all options to the boss for assessment. Of course there will be some desperatos. Should the govt try this tatic they would be crucified by the ALP and most of the media and Australian population.

............................................................ Should the govt try this tatic they would be crucified by the ALP and most of the media and Australian population. As it stands at the moment that’s the situation the LNP faces at a May election, so what’s it got to lose. It will depend on the situation at the time the election needs to be called, eg standing in the polls, how things go in NSW. A two-election scenario gives an extra six months in which time things might change and, although it won’t have a majority in the Senate, it may get a more sympathetic one in July. Apart from facing a long stint in opposition, it’s possible the Liberal Party will disintegrate should it lose the election (some would say it already has).

There is dreamland and there is reality and the current PM is obviously realist and dismissed the idea as is I'm sure most of the party would have also no matter how much you want it not to be so. Also the time saved is minimal anyway and it would be a suicide action as I've stated before so are we not done?............................................................ There’s no way that GST will ever be part of our policy. Never ever!
