Good on you DD707, it's not actually compulsory to drink even in this country! Apparently drinking is not as popular among the young as it was a decade or so ago and one of the reasons is that it is not cool to be seen to be drunk anymore.

Not sure what being 18 has to do with it though - some of us started well before that!

No traffic, so no point patrolling it.

Stand by for a spiel from the RRA blaming the Murray Basin project...

I was banned from their Facebook page a few weeks ago for daring to question the sanity of suburban services to Clunes, so I live in hope @x31 will start a News thread instead when the time comes.

Can't help you there because no idea what the problem is.

Is the port of Portland closed to grain traffic at the present?

I don't think so.  Just not enough grain to export.  It's nearly all domestic this year (thus the big trains from the Wimmera to NSW etc this year).

Was the Gheringhap UP sighting the return loaded service, or did it go out there to run around before its tour to Quambatook via Bacchus Marsh? Or was Bacchus Marsh a typo?

Why would it have run via Bacchus Marsh from North Geelong?

I saw on another page that it was to go via gheringhap but the paths changed late.

Also, PN are running another grainy ON Sunday to Berriwillock and SSR are running to Charlton Sunday/Monday sometime.

I've been told the PN one is originating from Totty Yard so would assume via Bacchas Marsh? Unsure on SSR but would assume the same.

When was the last time we had a grain on the Mildura line since conversion?

Probably only a month ago. But I also saw the first train to Underbool is running apparently today ex Ararat 18:00. Whether it makes it out there is another question. SSR is leaving Kensington 21:00 tonight.

When was the last time there was any substantial grain to move on the Mildura line since conversion.

Drought is messing with the network this year...

I understand that but was wondering if we have actually seen a loaded train come off the brach which has been converted and open for traffic for a few months now.

Well if you read up about 5 posts, there is apparently one heading for Underbool today.

Just remember too, not all trains that run get reported on RP, they have to be seen to be reported and Greensleeves does not live at the top of Bealiba bank. The further out you go, the less Gunzels to see and report.

As to Murrayville, there was a lot of trains out there in the last days of BG, probably even enough to pretty much empty the storages out. The area is marginal for grain, and a bad year wont see much to come out, and as Bing says, it goes to where the buyers dictate, and on their transport of choice.
