As the one who probably started this, I might explain what happened for those ‘in the dark’.
Back on April 8, freightgate
started a new News Forum topic, which contained a brief statement and a link to the article.https://www.railpage.com.au/f-p2142066.htm#2142066
All good so far, but he then went on to ask a question regarding when the first train might run.
I read the linked article, and the answer to his question was in the very first paragraph, and I replied to that effect.
Several others then made some posts, a couple of which took the thread off topic (though the posts themselves were excellent – and have since been resurrected into a separate thread).
Several days later, I had another look at the thread, and found that numerous posts had ‘gone missing’ and added a post advising that (I reported the thread at some stage too), and then on April 13, what is now the second post in the thread from dthead
was made advising that posts had been deleted and advice to stay on topic.
A series of PM’s then took place between myself and dthead
which has basically resulted in a stalemate.
So, a little criticism of a News Forum post has caused a furore, yet the dreadful racist posts in this thread https://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11399237.htm
survived without any action being taken. Several people reported posts there, some even called for the thread to be deleted/locked, but nothing happened. – and the thread is still open. Why?
Railpage has lost many of its valuable and knowledgeable posters (I don’t claim to be either) in recent years, and it will only get worse unless some action is taken by the Administration.
As to me, well I am now going to return to the role that I had prior to 2007 – that being a lurker.
