    Trains are back after 3 weeks of chaos. Now we are Stuck outside Caulfield. Driver advised it will be a slow trip to city as there are “bad signalling faults”.
    Remember after the last big outage they didn’t replace the overhead properly and a train pulled it down.
    Perhaps they need a QA plan or decent project plan with acceptance testing .....

    Looks like the overhead has failed near Laverton.  Werribee line is suspended:

    whatever happened looks to be substantial with busses replacing trains after 7pm tonight and tomorrow night, and altered services the rest of the time. Using the altona loop as a de-facto down line, with up trains running as normal, walking pace through the incident area.

    Very large section of overhead totally destroyed. So much so that 2 Ns only rescued the Siemens involved this afternoon, some 24 hours after the original incident.

    It seems we are in for two weeks of chaos on the south Yarra area ie Caulfield to Richmond in June school holds.
    No planning or advance notice .... again.
    I got my weekly travel update email from PTV but no mention. Didn’t they tell them?

    I don’t question the need to do work for Metro but a little notice so we can plan work from home, leave, etc

    Have to be honest I’ve been assuming for years now there will be a June shutdown, and you can usually guess which lines it will be.

    I do agree 3 weeks is a bit too short notice  - they should aim for 4 in my view - but the bigger issue is the replacement bus strategy if they’re still refusing to use temporary bus lanes like they did with the Flemington shuttles for the RRL.

    Another series of delays at South Yarra this morning.

    Coming in on a Pakenham train, we sat a Caulfield until a path on the Frankston line became available (ie express train Caulfield to Sth Yarra crawled behind a stopping all stations. Took an additional 20+ mins.

    Saw a few others were caught up in it.

    Seems the signalling or power at Sth Yarra is still a problem.

    I have to wonder what their insurance companies will say... I'm sure they would have been covered for the rear-end collision, but I doubt they would be for leaving their cars on the LX!

    Police on channel 9 news last night saying it was a "mistake" by both car drivers and no penalties will be applied. However had they been doing 104 in a 100 zone on a perfectly straight divided 6 lane freeway with no other cars in sight we'd have heard all about how speed kills.

    Another car vs train incident at Hudson Rd Spotswood today.

    Apparently the driver of the car attempted to wiggle around closed boom gates.

    Driver seems to be OK, but Werribee line suspended...

    Not likely to make many of those "drivers" who think crossings are there to get in their way and not for their own safety change their behaviour. I can sympathise with the poor spark driver having a twit do that in front of him/her. I'd love to see the insurance company's response to the damages claim for the car!

    During the weekends closure (17/18) We had a works train carrying lots of old sleepers near Oakleigh station with S312, T385 and B75 - seemed to do nothing from Sat morning until late Sat night.
