Grain Harvest 2019-20

Mildura at least has a lot more passing loops.

Great to see regular runs on the BG line this week, but it'll get real messy when/if there's additional trains with a big harvest.

The bottleneck will be Gheringhap/Geelong if the signaling isn't fixed. Maryborough is the worry though too, trains will have to go straight through. Not sure what the closest loop is after there? Interesting to see how long QUBE keep this up.

Also, SSR is running to Murchinson East on Monday.

There is no place for BG trains to cross Between Ballarat and Korong Vale. Little problematic too. They can pass SG trains between Maryborough and Dunolly if they are given right of way. Still no way to avoid the Pass though North of Ballarat.

PS try Warrenheip, and I think with the amoubt of BG choochoos runnining it will not be a problem.

QUBE BG grainy unloading for the final time at Geelong tomorrow and then heading back to Melbourne. Any ideas when it will be next required?

Latest ABARE forecast is out.  Bumper crops forecast in Vic and SA.  Poor to Average elsewhere:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-10/abares-crop-another-poor-harvest-for-australias-grain-growers/11495882

South Australian roads are going to get an absolute hammering with trucks now that several of their rail lines have been mothballed/abandoned in recent years.

Vic will be interesting with PN seemingly not interested in running BG grain trains these days.

PN still have the contract with Geelong (Graincorp) so I would expect some traffic the rail companies will be busy.  The crop north of Sea Lake across to the south of Robinvale is very good I am told.

Can we expect the PN BG rakes returning to work then? If they have to clear some space before harvest and with the outlook positive, would you expect trains to run by early October?

The Rainbow line from Dimboola has just been baulked and booked out of service. A strange thing to happen given it's likely to be a bumper harvest this year.

I hear there is some damaging frosts around the Horsham area where a bumper crop was earlier predicted.

I'm hearing there was some frost damage in the Wimmera this morning - mainly stem frost apparently.

Tonight also has a high risk of a repeat frost.  Southern WA got badly affected last week.

Checked out Dimboola on way back from SA, there was a track crew doing some work on the Rainbow Line with a ccouple of backhoes, time will tell if Grain Trains return to this line on the upcoming harvest.

Another train load of grain from Murrayville, they've been shifting quite a bit from here, would indicate a reasonable harvest coming up.

Grain from the furthermost region in the West to more or less most North of NSW, Moree. good to see.....

I want to know how far past Moree this is ending up - anyone from up that area who can tell us where the trucks are taking it?
