NSW - Cityrail Where Is It? - CRYPTIC VERSION

Sorry Valvegear and michaelgm, I was just being a bit mischievous with my two previous posts.

Starting from TomBTR's rather obscure clues, a reverse-engineering of every possible "northern" station and a deep dredge of several pages of Google threw up (so to speak) this reference: http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/scott-thomas-alison-2644 which explains Alison's involvement with Tom Scott (who??) and also the cane connection, leading us to T A SCOTT, who was apparently an early starter in Australia's sugar industry.

My second tease, "............ point, Clare .............!" simply refers to Tascott's rail-connected neighbour just up the line.

I'll let TomBTR decide if there's a winner for this one ......... I'm off to find some headache tablets!

I never realised that we were playing a quiz on obscure history. The clue didn't mention any Allison so that bit is inadmissable,

I am inclined to pass the staff to Steve who obviously knew where I was talking about and also developed some better clues.

Thomas Alison Scott founded the sugar industry in NSW (maybe also in Australia) on the shore of Brisbane Water. The station at T A Scott became TASCOTT and long survived the end on cane growing on the Central Coast.

Tom

Edit: Above written and posted before I noticed the two posts above (fresh page carelessness on my part).
One could do something similar with Kandos, but it is beyond the cityrail network.

Moving along, give this one a go. It should be simpler and everything you need is in the words of the clue (I think/hope!).

"With a change of layout and an encrypted iMap Central could become an even more central station!".

The answer is a real, existing station but it's not Central.

Martin Place.
Take out the letters m a i p (encrypted imap), leaves r t n l a c e, unscrambled = central

Spot-on Sherlock, perfect deduction!

Trivia add-on - historically, Main Post Offices have often been considered to define the "central point" of a city or town, especially for distance measurement. Sydney's is/was at No.1 Martin Place.

Next delivery is Valvegear's.
