Railpage Outage Notice

For weeks now, whenever I Google "Railpage", I have been getting the humorous notice telling me that Railpage is unavailable due to tsunami, alien invasion, or attack of piles (tick one).

When I Google "Forums Railpage", I get straight through.

Professor Julius Sumner Valvegear wishes to know, "Why is it so?"

Hi Valvegear, I had a similar issue a couple weeks ago and it was resolved for me with the information on this thread:

I hope it helps you too.

Been more off than on for a month or so here. And only half the sight comes up, sent  a message to 'Shunter a week  ago or so and it must have got eaten. Our NBN has been pretty ornery around here since Xmas. The better half is having a traumatic time at work.

When you say the site is half up can you please provide more info?

Our traffic stats are quite high at present and I saw yesterday we had an outage notice due to load even after the php session code had been fixed by Paul.

So keen to understand where the issues are.  What module are you in when you get the outage which has been rare over the past 12 months from what I can see but maybe missing something.

I have been thinking and i reckon that this Railpage outage notice, which has been popping up for years, is just a scam so the forum owners can milk money out of us in the name of donations. This is because the easiest workaround to this pesky message, which i never have to deal with on other forums, is to close the tab then delete your browsing history then reload the site.

I was going to send you a text, but around here at the moment Australia Post is quicker and more reliable.  No more beer until next Friday. I've got some kind of virus or something... it's tasting awful. Don't tell anyone. Tuesday went down the local and drank until I couldn't fit any more in, and it didn't taste any better, thursday had another go and it wasn't any better,so had 2 black russians and walked into a fog. Saturday arvo  fried 2  dcc decoders and in disgust I thought a walk to the pub and a few beers seemed a better option, still tasted terrible. I think I need some kind of counselling

Yes, really. For literally years i was almost sucked into the emotive message about how Railpage will keep crashing permanently if no one donates yadda yadda yadda but then i figured out a nifty little secret workaround so i never have to see those 'jokes' - which arent even funny anyways - again.

You think this is the plan?

Railpage had intermittent access problems last evening due to an upstream internet provider issue.  This issue is similar to that from January this year where we were experiencing packet loss on the providers link.  This is now stabilised and the link now appears fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We are still experiencing network issues this morning and are working with our provider in rectify.

Still working through the cause but provider downed their internet port yesterday and we had issues with our swtiching and lost packets and bounced port with their downtime.

Should be good now and I will look to upgrade our switching.
