Grain Harvest 2019-20

Agreed on all points though im thinking that a separate entity with a separate budgetary allocation will be far more transparent (and maybe therefore accountable - we can hope) than the current arranagment where cash can splash wherever the ministers get angry at VLine about.
james.au
And that is probably precisely why they haven't done it already and have zero intention of doing so unless they are made to.

It seems to me that there is pretty much zero accountability in V/Line for their performance. Yes a head or 2 rolled after the wheel wear crisis but that was a massive stuff up which was too big to ignore.

The government likes it's nice cosy situation where it can blame V/Line but then there are pretty much zero consequences after that. I can picture the meetings Yes Minister style, the Minister and the V/Line Chair sitting at Parliament house sipping on a nice bottle of Shiraz at the taxpayer's expense having a chat.

'Just wanted to let you know that I am heading out to Murtoa or some such dreary place this week, something to do with Wheat or some such thing. My advisers tell me that Channel 9 has found some problem or another that needs to be fixed out there so I am going to have to drop you in it. It's the voters you know, they need to see that I am doing something. Anyhow, how's Margerie? Are you coming to the Midwinter Ball this year? Last one was a corker wasn't it! Oh and that pay rise for you and the rest of the board might have to wait a week or two until this blows over.'

Hello there, well I'm not sure if this is accurate but with the lack of Broad Gauge trains, old DangerousDan007 has hit a real low, been hitting the bottle and generally not happy Jan.

Hope this fires him up a bit and the title says it all.

A bit if info here as per Greensleeves comments; After an absence of over ten months, Pacific National finally made a return to Broad Gauge grain traffic with the running of 9157 from North Geelong to Sea Lake on the 11th of February 2020, with G's 527 and 525 having charge of a recently reactivated rake of VHAF hoppers. The train is seen departing Maryborough in the dark after a crew change, lit by the lights of the Vlocity stabling compound.

Thanks to Greensleeves for the clip.

And the returning train,  Thanks to Graeme for that clip.

Yes, the Dangerous One has been rather conspicuous by his absence of late. Hopefully it is just a bout of Schoolies Fever and not something more serious.

I have seen him post over on one of the FB groups so can't be all bad. Maybe someone has done something to upset the lad. Not looking at anyone in particular.......

I think that's the 2nd to load at Dimboola. Aurizon have also loaded several trains in South Australia in the last few months. All heading to Broadbent's siding in Moree. The Dimboola trains have travelled in and out the long way around via Adelaide and Broken Hill.

Thanks to the top notch standard ARTC maintains the Main South and North East sg mainlines. Also thanks to the rapid response action of ARTC in re-opening line at Barnawartha and again ARTC snails pace restoration of normal signlalling at Wallam .

Wot......?

Qube, PN and SSR are using those corridors on a daily basis for long distance grain moves.

Are Aurizon a special case? The operation of some of their long distance jaunts has been farcical - no doubt ARTC's fault as well Razz

ATSB are always informed - they then assess whether or not the incident requires external investigation.

Not on their website as at yesterday 19/2 but possible that the derailment might have been trivial and with an obvious cause.

Nah Bg, I'm pretty good. There has been Variety of reasons I've been dormant on this forum, new Uni and work burdens, along with feeling mentally drained after a series of fierce political debates in the lounge. Gonna get back into the habit of posting again, so don't worry, the BG tidal wave of foam will return. Smile
