Looks good on a nice clear summer day like today.This is Melbourne - we rug up on summer days often enough.
People are going to want to rug up in the winter months though.
The view of the bay from the platform is excellent.
It's a shame the rails will be lowered at Edithvale and Bonbeach - or can that be changed?
If they are putting those stations in trenches, I hope that they have a very good de-watering system worked out.
There would be a water removal pump system working from a sump one would hope.The difficult bit is to get all the groundwater into one sump. It isn't going to flow in a variety of directions just because someone put a nice sump there. It will need an extensive network of drainage pipes, and has the potential to be a real nuisance.
Whatever happens, doing these as rail-under is still a terrible idea that will be regretted.But the community will have gotten what it wanted, a big gash in the ground, while Chelsea has it's new parks and thoroughfares.

I had the opportunity to check out the new Carrum station this morning. It was a cold, wet & windy morning & on a day like this you have to regard the station amenities as a fail. There is very little shelter on the platform & the small 3/4 height glass partitions around the seats are virtually useless as protection from the wind & rain. The only redeeming feature it has is a nice view of the bay. Whoever designed it didn't take into account the weather that you will frequently get at that location. Irrespective of the pros & cons of above & below ground crossing removals future passengers at Bonbeach, Chelsea & Edithvale might be grateful that their new stations won't be elevated, at least they won't run the risk of suffering from hypothermia in the winter like those at the new Carrum!I guess you'd just have to wait downstairs on such days.

I board the train at Seaford.They ar doing it just to ANNOY YOU............................
I used to board the 6:53 train to the City Loop.
However this was a train originating from Carrum and now originates from the new Kananook yard.
When Carrum was closed the train stopped at Seaford.
Now that Carrum is opened, the train starts from Kananook and runs non-stop through Seaford.
Obviously the powers that be didn't want to change the timetable to minimise the disruption.
Today I caught an earlier train from Seaford and changed trains at Carrum and caught the City Loop train.
I thought the train could depart slightly earlier so it could stop at Seaford, however today's train arrived 4 minutes early and waited at Carrum. I think there is very little impediment to stop the train at Seaford.
There are another three trains that originate from Kananook in the morning and I think (I haven't checked) they all run non-stop through Seaford.
