There is nothing whatsoever 'hard right' about being anti-communist.
There is when it's an all consuming passion to the exclusion of everything else. You're out there with the late B A Santamaria, and he made Genghis Khan look like a raving pinko.
If you saw it from my point of view you'd see the conga line of people so willing to get a tizz on about Donald Trump but on the other hand don't want to even think about how our largest trading partner runs large re-education camps of millions of people and basically a human-rights violating autocratic dictatorship.

Sure, because those views are OBVIOUSLY mutually exclusive.

The theme of the thread is Trump as hinted by the thread title, not the nutjobs in Beijing as despicable as they may be. Want to rave about them, feel free to make another thread.

Oh, and for the record because I know you'd comment on it otherwise, I would be quite happy to see Xi and his cronies forcibly removed from power and get rid of those camps. If they had to be blasted out of there or put under a guillotine French revolution style so be it.
Greensleeves
Thats not enough to him, if you don't like trump or agree with how Don views it, you're a loonie 'doomsday cult' commie greenie, that wants china to take over the world!

Its McCarthyist style hysteria Yellow man bad, Orange Man good. To Him the entire issue is black and white, no nuance just a struggle between good and evil. Evil China who wanna take over the world, Good USA protect the world from evil China. Thats how dumbed down he views China and trump are, masquerading as an intellectual.

Don. Did your parents come from Croatia or one of those other Nazi loving states where people fled from to Australia after WW2 before the Russians rightfully sorted them out?

Look at it from another point of view... With the US trending towards 100,000 COVID-19 fatalities, in years to come, they can simply blame "The incompetence of Donald Trump" and/or his failings in not closing the borders, rather than the idiocy of the average American and their "We're a free country - end the lockdowns" protests for the explosion in cases and deflect attention from their own failings.

It's all Trumps fault, HE didn't close the borders, HE didn't give out enough test kits, HE didn't ensure there was enough disinfectant to inject ourselves with (sic), it's not OUR fault we were told to go into lockdown and we didn't because we're a FREE COUNtRY! 'MURICA!!!...

KRviator has a fair point about the handling of COVID 19. Trump is not altogether blameless, but the "liberty or death" syndrome is rife in the good ol' US of A, and many idiotic citizens will get their wish with the latter option.

However, there is a litany of stupidity from Trump covering all manner of things which is why I can't stand the man. He is just pig ignorant and completely lacking in basic common sense. He fails Rule 1: "Be sure brain is in gear before engaging tongue".

It speaks volumes about the sort of people who vote for a 'leader' who takes absolutely no responsibility, blames others for anything that goes wrong and takes credit for everything that goes right.

In your view it seems that there's no possibility of the Chinese Communist regime and Mr D Trump both being wrong in numerous ideas. Mr Trump is anti-Communist and OK at that. If that was all he did, he'd be right, It isn't all he does, and some of what he says (or twitters) is either stupid or downright dangerous, or both. I repeat my earlier comment - he is the most ignorant and ego-maniacal of the 14 Presidents of my time.
Valvegear
Does it matter? Number one - why bother wasting energy to find things to hate about the man. He's not even our President, he belongs to the United States of America - a nation on the other side of the planet from us. You and I have no control over who they elect so don't get so het up about it even if you don't like him.

Number two, what difference does competence make in that job anyway? I'm pretty sure Reagan was slightly demented in his last few years of office but it really didn't make any difference.

I still go back to the fact that the Demmy-crats, Hillary, Obama and all those other Demmy-crat bit players are the reason why Trump is there to begin with. Hillary was so repulsive to the blue collars that they voted for a totally politically-inexperienced reality television star and sometimes successful businessman rather than have her as President.

Obama's last few years in office were totally dreadful and made blue collar people angry, I don't think anyone acknowledges that enough - couldn't even get his signature policy to work properly and the people he was purporting to represent were suffering terribly from uncontrolled mass migration and China's unfair trade practices. Trump has at least attempted to tackle both those things.

And here with go again with the stupid bloody Democrats, do they really think sleepy Joe Biden is the best candidate to take on Trump? Couldn't they find anyone - ANYONE - better than him? My theory is that Trump has something on him and his son's corrupt international dealings and will reveal it a few weeks before the election anyway.

What do you care if it's Biden or not given you reckon you don't support that billionaire Trump?
Why are the Democrats "stupid" (granted the Republicans didn't get so much richer by being dumb).
Why do you want Trump to have dirt on Biden?

Irrespective of the comments and the depth of feeling pro and agin the two candidates for the election in November the most relevant comment I could make is this:

"Are these two candidates really the best the yanks can find out of 328M people to contest an election for what is arguably the most powerful office in the world?"

Warren penned a cartoon in the Telegraph during the last Presidential election which summed it up beautifully.  It showed the Lincoln Memorial with Abe sitting there having just flipped a coin and watching it spin, with a tear rolling down his cheek.  One of their better Presidents despairing of the current crop.

If the cartoon was rerun this time around it would be just as relevant.

And for a bit of light relief, someone I know saw this the other day, I know not where:

Captain Trump of the RMS Titanic:
There isn't any iceberg.
There was an iceberg but it's in a totally different ocean.
The iceberg is in this ocean but it will melt very soon.
There is an iceberg but we didn't hit the iceberg.
We hit the iceberg, but the damage will be repaired very shortly.
The iceberg is a Chinese iceberg.
We are taking on water but every passenger who wants a lifeboat can get a lifeboat, and they are beautiful lifeboats. Look, passengers need to ask nicely for the lifeboats if they want them.
We don't have any lifeboats, we're not lifeboat distributors.
Passengers should have planned for icebergs and brought their own lifeboats.
I really don't think we need that many lifeboats.
We have lifeboats and they're supposed to be our lifeboats, not the passengers' lifeboats.
The lifeboats were left on shore by the last captain of this ship.
Nobody could have foreseen the iceberg.

Point 1: It's not necessary to use energy to find things to dislike about Trump; he has put them on a platter for all to see.
Point 2. Yes; he is not our President, but he wields enormous influence across the globe. He'll seem like our President just as soon as he wants Australian troops somewhere.
Point 3. Het up? About 90% of the comment about Trump is from one D Dunstan who seems more het up than all of the rest of us.

I don't care, but Biden's corrupt dealings in the Ukraine and China with his son make his nomination an extremely poor choice (yet again) by the Demmy-crats. But poor choices is what you'd expect of those people, they're more beholden to billionaires than even the Republicans.

The Demmy-crats are stupid because they picked a Vice President who is the personal embodiment of the failures that lost them the Presidency to begin with. They should have gone for an outsider - ANYONE but the former Vice President.

I don't 'want' Trump to have dirt on Biden, I'm just speculating that maybe he does.

I'm not upset about anything, I just don't understand the hatred towards Trump. He's not our President - he's not your President. You didn't vote for him - you can't vote for him. You have no impact on the outcome.

How many wars has Trump created since he's been in office? I see no evidence whatsoever that Trump is about to drag us into a 'new' war. Trump hasn't started any wars since he's been in office - unlike that war-monger Obama who destabilized Syria and Libya on purpose and Bush II who invaded Afghanistan and Iraq.

And please don't ascribe emotions to me that I don't have - it's worse than the (very) amateur therapist Mejhammers trying to tell me what my motivations are or what feelings I feel.

Well you say repeatedly how he brings out feelings of revulsion, only further up the page you were complaining that he's the worst President you remember in your life-time. And what, that's not expressing emotion?

Like I said from the start, I don't get how Trump sets people off into a foaming rage. Who cares - he's not there forever (unlike Xi Pooh Panda bear) and he's probably going to win the Presidency again which means that nobody can find anyone better to run against him.

So get upset about the things that you can change, not about the stuff that you have no control over and that is transient anyway. Ommm ommm, ching ching...

Sorry, Don. I clean forgot that there's one rule for you and another for everybody else. You're allowed to say I'm het up; I'm not allowed to say you are.

Saying Trump is the worst President I have seen is opinion; not emotion. There's a difference, you know. An opinion is considered; an emotion is not.
P.S. Please show me where I have repeatedly used the term "feelings of revulsion". You can't, because I didn't. Not once, let alone repeatedly.

Partly to point out your " one rule for don" system, and partly to correct your manifold inaccuracies, dear boy. I don't mind you criticising provided you stick to facts. When you make things up (e.g. "feelings of revulsion"), and then criticise, it deserves a response.

As much as I my distaste for the Biden's, and it looks completely suss, no one can prove that there was any wrongdoing and Trump has effectively nothing on the Bidens.

I agree with you about Joe Biden. The shining lights of that party are black women. Harris (CA), Wilson (FL), Abrams (GA) to name a few. But that will never happen. The US having a woman of color in the presidency. I have more chance being drafted by the AFL.
