The corona virus COVID-19

IN relation to the COVICD19 safety app or whatever it's called - guarantees about the security of your data are totally meaningless.

If a security agency asks the developer of an app to build in a back-door so that data can be collected about the user - the developer of the app isn't allowed to disclose that information to anyone under penalty of jail. So they couldn't even tell you if an app was going to collect data to be used by other agencies or even passed on to the private sector etc.

You can't believe anything they tell you - because the relevant legislation says that they must lie if asked about back-door data collection.

Reinfection is a possibility with any virus in people with autoimmune conditions.

But government incompetence doesn't need to be a side effect. These patients should be shifted out of the concentration camp and into a hospital where they can first be protected from further reinfection (working on the assumption that they do have a weak/suppressed immune system) and secondly investigated as to whether they have actually been reinfected or are simply returning false negatives.
"justapassenger"

If referring to my guys, their immune systems are fine and they are not alone. Moving them from a facility with 1000 infected people to another facility with a different name with 1000 infected people won't solve anything.

False negative or positive is my theory, but repeat infections is common including people in hospital according to some reports including some passengers taken off the cruise ships.

Good question and, yes; the ones I listed were all racist attacks by Caucasian people.
People everywhere suffer abuse all the time for all sorts of reasons - I once had a drunk dude with some kinda dislike for me take off his socks and throw them at me on a late-night tram but I didn't call the police, I just laughed it off with the rest of the tram.

Crazy people walk everywhere all the time all over Melbourne - you should know that living in the inner 'burbs. One or two crazy white people who get it in their heads that Chinese people are virus-carriers does not mean we're about to collapse into mass-racial persecution; neither does the odd attack on a woman wearing a niquab or a trans-sexual woman... or whatever. It's a big city, stuff happens.
If you think that some drunk dude throwing socks at you is in anyway equivalent to a Chinese or Muslim (usually women) getting racially abused and attacked then you are missing the point Don.

In the early to mid eighties, myself and other black and south asians were subjected to regular racial abuse. And it is effing terrible. And if you do not nip it in the bud, it will escalate.

Crazy white people who get it in their heads that Chinese people are virus-carriers does not mean we're about to collapse into mass-racial persecution.

That is true, but if it is not dealt with, it will be a problem, and Don, you were quite prepared to tarnish all Sudanese as Violent troublemakers.

Michael
How do you know that I haven't been persecuted in my life because of my race, appearance, sexuality etc? How do you know that I've never suffered the same sort of abuse that you have only for different reasons - the only difference being I don't come on here to whinge about it like a martyr?

You don't, you just presume. So just bugger off, Michael - you're not the only one here who is different from the mainstream and you're certainly not the only one here who has been abused in public, assaulted at school or teased for being different for reasons beyond your control.

In the words of a selfish, clueless dolt - "Do jog on".
don_dunstan
There you go again. Your lack of comprehension astounds me and of course the insults.

Nowhere in my comment did I assume anything. I was replying to your comment which was

I once had a drunk dude with some kinda dislike for me take off his socks and throw them at me on a late-night tram but I didn't call the police, I just laughed it off with the rest of the tram.

If you have suffered abuse in the past, then I am truly sorry. Everybody has different ways in dealing with it, you chose to keep quiet. That does not remove the fact that racial abuse is wrong, and people should not be criticised for their way in dealing with it, which is to speak out against It. It does not make them a whinging martyr.

I merely stated that your comment is not the same as a minority person getting racially abused. The reason in bold are your words, and I have merely commented on that. If you think that I am having a go at you I am really not. I do not think I am the only one who has been abused. Merely commenting on past experiences endured by myself and others.

In the words of a selfish, clueless dolt

Really Don, you are better than that.

Or because of population size. Last I checked Ireland's rate per million population was higher than the US, higher than Italy even but lower than Spain.

Canada is doing better but still pretty high on a per capita basis.

I seriously hope Melbourne readers take this one with the contempt that it deserves, Clive Palmer claims to have brought 33 million doses of Hydroxychloroquine, and he plans to treat some Australians with it via his foundation "The Palmer Foundation", this medication has NOT been approved by any medical board whatsoever, it has had some failed results in clinical trials overseas as well, this drug first came to the media's attention when Donald Trump started going on about it, but I would caution anyone not to take any notice of this ad if they see it - https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/coronavirus/clive-palmer-buys-33-million-doses-of-experimental-potentially-dangerous-covid-19-drug/ar-BB13jdMX?ocid=spartanntp

One crazy woman assaulting a Chinese student doesn't equal a restaurant manager putting a large banner up cheering on the deaths of Americans (or whoever).
I'm talking about Melbourne, Don. We have had a lot more than one crazy woman . . . two Asian bus drivers assaulted, one doctor of Asian appearance ( Australian born!) also attacked, two houses graffitied with anti-Chinese crap, one Vietnamese (well, they all look the same) man's car burnt complete with other threats issued and a Malaysian student abused (before some decent people came to his aid.) They're just the occurrences I know about.
Wow, really - all that happened in a city of four million? And white people did all that I guess. Bad white people, why on earth do people of colour come and live in Australia knowing they're going to be treated with such contempt.
don_dunstan
Reich wing media plays up particular ethnic/religion associations which encourages such attacks. Don, you wouldn't have a clue what it's like to be on the receiving end on any given day. I have Australian friends of Asian appearance who cop this smeg all the time. These people suck it up because racism and bigotry doesn't define them. They're too busy making a life for themselves.

Sorry to hear, some people are real dumb ar$e FW's.

My Australian born wife is 50% Chinese Malay, but more often than not gets "accused" of being Maori and / or told to go back to China when her family left China for Malaysia before the English arrived in Australia.

I'm sure the Aboriginals have their own more accurate view on which race took over Australia.

Well done to the ACT, first state/territory in the nation to get down to zero known cases. It's a small step but an important one, though a bit of a hollow victory as the ACT being surrounded completely by NSW means it will be difficult for them to join the mooted WA/SA/NT/Qld free movement zone.

SA is heading towards that point as well with no new cases for 8 days, just 14 active cases and the recovery rate now over 99% (420 recoveries, 4 deaths).

SA may have a few cases to come as there are about 800 international arrivals from last week quarantined in hotels. But unlike NSW who just took the temperature and let people leave at the end of 14 days, SA Health will actually test them for infection before setting them loose.

We are doing really well in Australia to contain the Coronavirus, we have such low numbers now it is incredible, however, as I keep on saying, this particular virus can spread like wildfire, so a 2nd wave of infections MAY be possible.

The United States of America has to be one of the most backward nations on the planet. Led by an elderly but charismatic bully, it seems like the majority of voting adults have been totally brainwashed into believing that their rights are far more important than their responsibilities.

Hopefully every thoughtful liberal self isolates and every gun totin' redneck republican runs amok and contracts the virus. At the end of the day Darwinism will rule.

If Covid had not happened, I would today have just finished travelling on the Rhodope Narrow Gauge railway as part of a train trip from Bucharest through Bulgaria to Sofia.
Next week I would be setting off on a 16 night small bus tour of Albania and Kosovo before heading for Greece with lots of ferry but also some train journeys.
Instead  I have over Au$10,000 worth of vouchers for airlines, hotels and tours to use perhaps in 2021.  Bulgaria is unlikely as I have been able to cancel hotels and tours, with refunds if necessary, for all parts of that journey and had not yet booked any train tickets. However the UK company organising the tour of Albania/Kosovo seems to think I can just  rebook for later this year. Now at age 76, I am not even sure if next year will be possible.
I just hope I can use the flights across the Tasman to see my only relatives (mid 80's) who live in Sydney before Christmas. I flew home from Sydney on April 28 last year so this is the longest I have been away from Australia. Fortunately my sister visited me for 10 days last December but I have always believed I could be back in Sydney in 48 hours if the worst should happen to her or her husband.
