I think Western Australia is limiting it's international arrival numbers to 25 per day. Should International flights be diverted to Christmas Island?

Not for at least a couple of months. Melbourne is back in a stage 3 lockdown for the next six weeks, and the SA/COVIC border reopening scheduled for 20 July has been postponed.

I'd guess that the Ghan will be the first Journey Beyond train to resume, followed by the Adelaide-Sydney leg of the Indian Pacific.

I noticed today Vline have replaced the Albury/Wodonga trains with coaches again does anyone know why trains cannot operate to Wodonga?

Coaches will replace Albury trains 7 Jul 2020 9:45PM - 31 Jul 2020 10:00PM

Coaches will replace Albury trains for all or part of the journey until further notice.

Lack of facilities to turn back there?

Greater Melbourne and Shire of Mitchell lockdowns reducing the passenger numbers to the point there is no use case for trains?

Opportunity being taken to patch up the trains that take so much abuse on the poorly constructed track?

NSW has cancelled all bus services between Broken Hill and Adelaide.  Do we know of the IP is running again?

Coach services also suspended in Victoria (NSW based coaches)

NSW TrainLink train and coach services have temporarily ceased operating into and out of Victoria from 7 July due to the temporary closure of the NSW/Victorian border. Services will resume into Queensland after the border reopens. The South Australian border remains closed but one service will continue operating with customers required to meet essential travel guidelines

This just out from the Vic Government

The coronavirus pandemic has blown a multi-billion hole in the Victorian economy with a $7.5 billion deficit flagged by Treasurer Tim Pallas.

Revealing the revised Victorian economic figures on Thursday, Mr Pallas described the economic hit as “devastating.” However, he remained confident that the Victorian economy “will make it through to the other side of this pandemic”.

“This is grim,” he said. “It’s one of the biggest economic challenges, the state, Australia and the world economy has faced in history. “This will be a very traumatic and dramatic economic event.

Now wondering what this will do to current project?

Queensland Border is about to close once again to NSW and ACT residents. This will delay trucks into and out of Queensland from the south.

Coach services (those that were running) will probably now cease.

Where is rail in all of this?  can rail get up and start carrying more and more of the freight load to assist.

I think it will make it easier for trucks to cross the border.
The long delays only started after 10th July because authorities were checking if people were from a hotspot or not. By closing the border to all of NSW again the delays should be reduced.

Apparently Used car sales are running hot due to people abandoning public transport.  It doesn't look good.

Things are worsening in Adelaide with reports the Ghan (currently in Alice Springs) is being turned around and will head back to Adelaide with passengers being confined to their cabins for the remainder of the trip.

Confirmed the Ghan was turned around at Alice Springs yesterday evening, due back in Adelaide around 2000hrs this evening. Not heard anything about being confined to their cabins, but who knows?

As an aside, and before the usual suspects starting telling us how they would have handled it better, passengers on the two planes that landed in Darwin from SA yesterday morning were given the option of two weeks quarantine (at a cost of $2,500) or returning immediately to Adelaide.

Does seem like Vast over reaction to a few cases in Adelaide. Why the need to ruin the travel plans of many for a few cases.

We need to learn to live with this virus for
Now.
